Don't let the summer slip away without introducing a little adventure into your life! We have the healthy reasons why you should step out of your comfort zone. Start with learning to "fly" in our AerialCIRQUE NOVICE class (See Feature Class Section) and in the right hand column, we share the exercises you requested to get stronger for this and pole dancing. The hot temperatures outside means you're wearing shorts and probably explaining your bruises from our FLY classes more than you'd like. We have tips to reduce those and other aerial skin issues. Leave Your Comfort Zone Behind
We're all guilty of getting nice and cozy with the our comfort zones. They're like a big cushy chair that hugs us and lulls us into a false sense of security, however, if we don't break free, we don't grow. The comfort zone can become very isolating and weaken us physically, mentally, and socially.
Trying new things means growth and development, keeping your life from becoming stagnant. At worst you won't like it, but you will learn from it. It's also healthier and more mature than speculating you won't like it, which is what children do when they refuse to eat a new food. The more you put yourself outside the boundries you created, the more you will connect to people, advance your career, accomplish physical tasks with less doubt, and the positives go on.
Many excuses tie us into the comfort zone: fear, possible failure, humiliation, time, money, etc. Unless you're in physical danger, fear is a waste of energy and holding you back. Failure happens to everyone, especially the most successful individuals, because they started again with new knowledge and advanced each time. Humiliation is humbling and never as bad as you can imagine it getting. If perfectionism is the driving force, learn to let it go--flaws can be beautiful or make you laugh. The time it takes to do something, like going back to school for a new career, is the same time as not acting, but without the reward and happiness with your new life. And money can be made and budgeted to reach any goal you truly desire.
Aside from building a network for your job, the more experiences you have, the more you will have to talk about with others on a social level. You can share opinions and gain new insight, especially if your outcomes were opposite, possibly leading to new friendships. Think of something you want to try. What's holding you back? Will you regret it if you don't act? What can you gain from it? Small activities can get you further past your zone: try a new class at our studios, drive a different way to work, wear something different than normal, or change any small variation of your daily life. If you want to accomplish something larger, tackle it in steps, so the results are more positive for you and less stressful.
When faced with doing something that makes you feel awkward and uncomfortable (obviously we're talking about healthy proposals and not potentially harmful ones), look at it positively in a way that motivates you to move forward with it. It's an opportunity for adventure, a fresh start, a new life, empowerment, enrichment, new friends, and most importantly, a stronger, smarter, and healthier you!

Catch Some Air In Your Wings With AerialCIRQUE NOVICE!
Soar out of your comfort zone in this 55 minute FLY class! Introduction to basic fundamental aerial arts/circus equipment and conditioning using Aerial Silks (tissue/ribbons), Hammock, and Lyra (Steel Hoop). Improve your overall strength, core and flexibility while having a great time and learning basic cirque skills. Other apparatus may be introduced as well. No experience required but AerialYOGA and Pole classes can help you get familiar with aerial movement and develop some basic strength that will be helpful towards your success. You may begin in this class at any time as there will be a variety of strength and conditioning moves taught with your aerial tricks. Check out our class demo and class schedule.

Memorable Wedding Venues Southeast Michigan is rich in wedding venues, as is all of Michigan with its beauty and hundreds of miles of shorelines. You never have to settle on where to marry unless there are time/date or financial restraints. Instead of the usual banquet hall or country club, consider our area's many estates/mansions, zoos, parks, museums, gardens, dinner cruises/trains, and even farmers' markets like the one in Royal Oak.  Treatment For Aerial Skin Issues Usually after the first aerial class you take, or even a PoleFIT class, you'll find bruises on various parts of yourself. The silks can also bruise and create burns, when it rubs along unprotected skin; which is why we suggest pants/capris and shirts that cover shoulders. But that's not all. The more aerial you perform, the more your hands will adapt, meaning you may start developing callouses. These are small issues compared to the fun you have challenging yourself on aerial apparatus. Bruises These badges of honor are often compared amongst students, remembering which moves caused them. As you progress, these become less until you work on a move that makes new contact points on the pole, lyra, or silks. Bruises can be anything from speckled blood spots to deep tissue tenderness without much to see. Applying arnica gel to those points right after class will not stop them from forming, but it can reduce discoloration by reducing inflammation with its cooling effects. It's also a pain reliever. If you really whacked yourself, ice the injury and if possible, apply a compress and elevate it. Burns Getting a burn is more likely to happen when performing on the silks, though you can get them from the pole, too. They can form instantly as you slide the silk on uncovered skin or gradually through repetition. The later usually has delayed pain so you may not realize you're creating a wound. Wash it with warm water and apply an antibiotic gel or cream made for minor burns. Keep clothing and jewelry from rubbing the area by using a bandage. Callouses If you don't get them, what is your secret? Left untreated, callouses get thick and start to peel. They can get so bad as to snag the silks--aside from turning someone off from holding your hand. Don't pick at them, since they can tear, causing pain and bleeding. Regular maintenance is recommended by rubbing them with a pumice stone in the shower, once the warm water has softened the skin. If your callouses are extra thick, soaking them in a solution of water and apple cider vinegar, first, will help. Then wash, dry, and moisturize for best results. |

Upper Body Strengthening Moves For Pole & Aerial

Remember, keep your abdominal muscles engaged throughout to protect your back and strengthen your core. You need little to no equipment: a mat, a wall, and a pullup bar or access to a jungle gym for the pullups.
Handstand Tutorial
Handstands often fall outside of many people's comfort zones. Demonstrated in this video is how to do them and the prep work you can continue to do to get there. Those will make the stabilizer muscles, you need, stronger and build confidence in yourself as you begin to feel more comfortable in the position.

AcroTOTS is for kids ages 3-5yrs so bring your tots to learn basic acro/gymnastic skills, conditioning and coordination to prepare them for the circus and use the hammocks and lyra too! They will tumble, balance, climb and jump along with working on increasing flexibility and confidence! They will have a blast! Gymnastics attire and/or gym shorts/warm up pants/leggings and bare feet.
AerialKIDS is for ages 7-12yrs to learn basic acrobatic/gymnastic skills, conditioning and many amazing circus skills! Each class will include training on the circus equipment (Hammock, Silk Ribbons, Lyra, etc.) and build coordination, skills, and mini sequences to prepare them for our Fall Recital. This class will keep them engaged while building strength, increasing flexibility and confidence! INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
