We suggest small changes you can make for healthier habits, though feel free to add or substitute your own if you already follow what's listed. After all, improving your lifestyle is a constant for moving forward and being a happier, more fulfilled you. 8 Weeks, 8 Changes for a Healthier, Sexier You!
There are eight weeks until summer starts; enough time to adopt some changes in your lifestyle that will have you feeling healthier and sexier. Listed are eight changes you can make by choosing a different one each week. Some will be challenging and some will be easy, depending on your current habits. Remember, it's only for a short time and if by June 22, you're not feeling better or looking better, you can go back to your previous ways, though we doubt you'll want to.
Eat vegetables at every meal. This includes breakfast, which is very foreign for most people. By eating them in the morning, you'll kick start your day with the vitamins and nutrients your body needs for sustained function and energy. Try a veggie omelet, hash, or any of these suggestions.
Cut out sugary drinks and replace them with water. Most people don't stay hydrated properly and the warmer weather will worsen it. Sugary drinks will only add calories and inches your body, as you may drink more of them when you find yourself hot and thirsty.
Take a pass on fried food. The excess fat and cholesterol are unnecessary for your body in so many ways. Give your heart a break and opt for baked, grilled, or broiled foods. Not only will you save calories, you'll gain more nutrients, because the oil absorption and frying process modifies food's composition.
Replace sweets with fruit. You'll get your sugar fix and numerous vitamins and minerals. With so many colors and flavors to try, you'll definitely find a favorite or several while limiting your simple carbohydrate intake.
Limit alcohol to 1-2 drinks. This is especially important when socializing. Excess alcohol lowers inhibitions and aside from keeping you from table dancing, it'll save you calories from the beverages and the extra snacking that can occur.
Eat whole grains. Skip the refined breads, pastas, and other white starches for more complex ones. These provide essential fiber and nutrients without spiking your blood sugar and throwing off your insulin levels.
Do something active every day. Take one of our classes, walk the dog, bike with the kids, or garden-just so long as your body stays in motion once a day. It'll improve your circulation, mood, and waistline.
Focus on one thing you like about yourself every day. This will quiet the negative thoughts you may tell yourself and improve self-esteem. We see the beautiful person you are and we want you to see her/him also!

Grab your sunscreen and outdoor shoes, because our Boot Camp classes will be held outside! We understand the benefits of sunshine and fresh air, so we take advantage of the nice summer weather. There is a playground nearby we use to get your body stronger and leaner with an added dose of FUN! Check our class schedule for updates as a morning class will be added in the coming weeks. It's a great way to get your workout in before school, work, or even the kids get up!

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!
Warm days have many of us stepping outside and being more active. However, too often, we don't drink more water to compensate for the extra we will lose. Dehydration has many negative effects including: anxiety, fatigue, and irregular heartbeats. Water, not caffeinated beverages, is going to be your best bet. Hydration will keep your mind focused, body energized, and body temperature regulated.
If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Continuously drink water throughout the day and sip it during your workouts. At least 30 minutes before working out, consume 8oz, so you won't fatigue as quickly and get more from the activity. Also, don't forget to eat hydrating foods like zucchinis, cucumbers, melons, and oranges. They make great post workout snacks.
Sports drinks are good for activities lasting for an hour or more, especially if you are outside. Coconut water, which is rich in potassium, has gained a lot of popularity because it's natural, though it's pricey. If you want a natural, inexpensive alternative to those two options, you can make your own sports drink. This recipe is easy and you can drink the 8oz serving as is or add it to your water.
