Director's Update
|
Dear Husky Families,
We have 3 weeks left until the 2014-2015 school year officially comes to a close. We appreciate all of your support at home and we want to remind everyone to check the PLP Tool for the most up-to-date information regarding your student's progress.
Prom is Friday! Full-Day School Attendance is Mandatory for Prom Entry
We are very excited to celebrate with our students at the Junior/Senior Prom this Friday. As a reminder, students must attend school for the entire school day in order to earn the privilege of attending prom. Students who are absent for any part of the day on Friday will not be able to attend prom (all tickets are non-refundable). As a reminder, the safety of our students and guests is our number one priority. The school will take every precaution to ensure that all students and guests are physically and emotionally safe. As a reminder, the school will move forward with disciplinary action if the safety of our students is compromised in any way.
Location: Crown Plaza Cabana in Palo Alto
Time: 7-12pm

Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who helped support all of our Huskies this year! A wonderful night of celebration, support and school spirit was present at the Awards banquet last Thursday night. Faculty, parents, student-athletes and coaches were in attendance for this special night.
Academic Achievement
Certificates were awarded to 33 student-athletes with a 3.3 or higher gpa. All PSAL team certificates were awarded to 29 athletes. Three students were recognized for participating on 3 teams this year; Kyle Hom and Justin Green and of special note Hunter Kaufman, who not only participated in 3 sports but also received an Academic Achievement Award. He has set a new standard!
2015 PSAL Coach of the Year
Congrats to all of Summit's "2015 PSAL Coach of the Year" recipients; Kheaton Scott, Jose Alcala and Ken Salabert.

Young Dreamer's Network
|
The Young Dreamer Network is hosting our 2nd Annual Summit Prep Talent Show on June 5 at 4pm! As a part of this huge fundraiser, the Young Dreamers are having a raffle with numerous prizes to help raise money for our summer trips and our Network in general. This fundraiser is a major source of funding for our Young Dreamers that are working hard to earn their way to participate in service programs abroad this summer. We would greatly appreciate any raffle prize donations that our Summit parents can offer, or any donation in general to our Talent Show!
Last year, through parent donations, we graciously received numerous prizes such as gift cards from Visa, Target, and Starbucks, Jambox speakers, a GoPro camera, an iPad Mini, picnic baskets, and more! With your support, our Talent Show will be very successful. If you can contribute any donation towards our raffle prizes or our fundraising in general, please feel free to drop off any donations clearly labeled: "Young Dreamer Network, Ms. Ching" to Ms. Zamora at the front desk, or write a check out to the Young Dreamer Network. We greatly appreciate it!

Internships for Class of 2016
|
The application for our 2015-16 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM is now available for all rising 12th graders at Summit's Prep,
- We recommend students apply right away! We anticipate having a waiting list at all schools for next year's program.
- We will need to be in communication with applicants over the summer so once your student has submitted their application, please remind them to check their school e-mail regularly.
Student Ownership and Job Search Skill Building
In alignment with our focus on helping student's learn to be self-directed, we are "teaming" up with students to work together to find a meaningful internship.
We have a list of opportunities that students can apply for.
- Students can arrange their own internship (we will need to approve it)
- Since not all career areas are represented on our list, we will also show students how to use their network to find their own internship.
- We strongly encourage students to be open to applying for something that may not be exactly what they think they want. Any internship will be a valuable learning experience for them.
We very much welcome parent's using their networks to help us find great internships for our students.
Before they start the application, they need to check out the INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES LIST on the Expeditions web site.
Students should APPLY FOR AN INTERNSHIP here:
Please contact either LInda Stevenin (lstevenin# summitps.org) or Kathryn Hopkins ( khopkins@summitps.org) with questions. Once your student applies, we encourage you to let them manage the process with us.
