Dear Husky Families:
This past Thursday, the Class of 2015 spent a celebratory afternoon with their friends, family members, and the entire Summit Prep faculty perfecting college essays and submitting college applications! (See the article below). It was genuinely powerful to look around the Grand Room and see all of our seniors realizing their college dreams! We feel incredibly lucky to be a part of such an energetic, passionate, and supportive community! Ms. Gruner Soltis shared a heartwarming story from her experience this Thursday:
"Amidst the loud singalong to Taylor Swift, Brycen Schulze looked around and said 'Woah, are all the teachers out here doing this? That's really cool. I like that about Summit. Thanks for helping us.'"
Thank you Brycen and the Class of 2015 for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your lives!
Annual Fundraising Phone Campaign this Wednesday! Thank you to all of the families who have already donated or pledged towards our annual fundraising campaign! A few of our families have offered to match donations we receive by Wednesday (up to $30,000) so we encourage you to donate early! Families that donate before Wednesday will be exempt from our fundraising phone call campaign!
 SPOT Meeting this Thursday at 6pm - Location Change! Please meet at Summit Prep!We will have our monthly SPOT meeting this Thursday, 6pm, at Summit Prep. Please join us to support our parent community iniatiatives. We are particularly looking for parents who would like to support our Spring auction.

Save the Date! Parent Potluck Posada on Friday, December 5th from 5:30-8:30pm We would like to cordially invite everyone to our next parent community building event! Each year we have a parent potluck or "SPOTluck" to bring our families together and build personal relationships. This year, we will be having a Parent Potluck Posada celebration so we hope you will join us with your favorite dish! Our goal is to have 100% of our families in attendance so we hope to see you there!

Annual Giving: We need to raise $175,000 this year from our annual giving campaign. Our goal is 100% participation. That means you!! We need every family to contribute what they can - $20, $100, $500 or more. Every dime counts when it comes to educating our kids here at Summit. On November 19 from 6-8 pm we will be holding a phone bank to raise these necessary funds! Come join the forces and be a part of this important night. Light dinner and refreshments provided. Please sign up here http://bit.ly/10Lq4Ef. Study Trips: Drivers are needed for all grade level study trips. Dates are: February 4-6, 2015 for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. The 9th graders will have a 2-day study trip (February 5-6). We would like to recruit drivers as soon as possible and have created separate googleforms to allow you to sign up. The key responsibilities involve driving a group of students on the multi-day study trip, visiting various universities on a pre-planned route. The faculty of that grade level will be responsible for planning out the universities, and activities after the tours. In addition to driving, parents often assist in arranging food on the trip. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your respective grade level ambassador - or in doubt: spotsummit@gmail.com. If you have questions regarding the freshman or sophomore trip, don't hesitate to contact Stacy Guthmann for 9th grade ( stacyguthmann@yahoo.com) or Maria Suissa ( marisuissa@gmail.com) for 10th grade.
Weekly Faculty Treats: Faculty treats sign up schedule has availability in January and beyond. Please consider signing up for one of the Thursday snacks. The faculty really appreciates it! Sign up here http://bit.ly/10fBxuA. Summit Winter Formal is Coming: The Annual Summit Winter Formal Dance is coming on December 12. The faculty chaperones the dance but can use help. We will be publishing a sign-up sheet shortly, but anticipate needing the following:
Parents to help set-up from 5-7pm, clean up from 11-12pm and enough snacks for 250 students.

College Application Night
 On November 13, the entire Summit Prep faculty came together to support the class of 2015 in completing their college applications.
 Thanks so much to all the parents that donated food and time to support this effort. In addition, freshman through junior students created a wall of support to encourage the seniors in their work.
By the end of Thursday night, 77 of 83 seniors had applied to college!
CANCELLED- College Case Study Night- Thursday, November 20 at 7pm
The College Case Study Night has been cancelled. We are working with the organization to reschedule the even in the spring.

UC/CSU Application Deadline
All UC/CSU applications must be submitted by November 30. Please check-in with your senior to ensure they have completed all the necessary applications!

Come see the Bay Area's most family-friendly Nutcracker performance at the historic Fox Theater in Redwood City on Sunday, December 7 at 1 pm and 4 pm. Ballet America's show has it all: professional dancers alongside 100 local performers, including Summit Prep's very own Anna Kubicka (11th grader) and Lydia Parades (10th grader) dancing en pointe.
