PAWPRINT The general election is June 3, 2014

 

Measure A on June 3 Ballot benefits Summit Prep.
Parents may not be aware that Measure A funds benefit all the high schools in the Sequoia Union High School District, including Summit Prep and Everest.

Remember to vote this Tuesday, June 3.  55% must vote "yes" in order for the measure to pass.  Your vote really matters.

Thank you to Mr. Ponikvar, our Director of Expeditions, and our wonderful Expeditions teachers for a fabulous week!  We are so grateful for your commitment to providing our students with authentic experiential learning opportunities.  And a huge shout out to our parents who volunteered for our Career Day!  Check out our photos here:


Friday Celebrations!
This Friday, Summit Prep will be celebrating our wonderful community so we hope that you will join us for our festivities!

TedX Conference: Give, Grow, Gain - Friday, 9 - 3 p.m.
This Friday, our student-led TedX club will be hosting the must anticipated official TedX conference!  This club has been working tirelessly all year to bring an array of speakers from all walks of life to Summit Prep to share ideas worth spreading on what it means to give, grow, and gain.  You may find speakers bios at this link on our website, and stay tuned for an official schedule later this week.

Summit Prep Student Talent Show hosted by Young Dreamers! - Friday, 4:30-6 p.m.
Come see the many talents of our fabulous students!  The Young Dreamers Network will be showcasing our wonderful community members with this fundraising event so please support our students by attending and entering a raffle to win an iPad Mini, GoPro, and other awesome prizes!  Students will be selling raffle tickets for $5 each and we hope we can count on your support!

Summit Prep Awards Night Celebration, Yearbook Unveiling, and Volunteer Appreciation Ice Cream Social - Friday, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
We cannot wait to honor our students for the growth they have made this year. We will be highlighting their many achievements this Friday, and we will reflect on the year with the unveiling of our student-created yearbook!  Please join us for ice cream afterward as we also celebrate our wonderful parent volunteers!

PAWPRINT Sailing Information Night

Join us to find out more about youth sailing and Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation programs. Come meet the coach and team, parents, current and prospective sailors.
  • June 12 at 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. 
  • Sequoia Yacht Club, 441 Seaport Ct, Redwood City

Community Service Opportunities
  
PAWPRINT Sharon Kelleher, Riekes Center staff member and US Paralympic tennis player, is the volunteer coordinator for the US Paralympic Track & Field National Championships which will be coming to the College of San Mateo from June 20-22. This event is put on by the US Olympic Committee in conjunction with the Pacific Association of USA Track & Field.

Fall Sports for 2014
Girls Volleyball, Boys Cross Country and Girls Cross Country

PAWPRINT fallsportsFall Sports Registrations due NOW - Sports packets (12 pages) are due in May for all Fall Sports.  Medical releases (3 pages) will be due August 18 prior to tryouts which are the week of August 18 (the week prior to school starting).  Practice begins August 25 and the season runs to the first week of November.

PAWPRINT Want to get involved in Summit Athletics?  Several opportunities exist to help promote and run the Summit program.  Photography, Video, Media reporting, Uniform management, concession leads just to name a few.   A big THANK YOU to Barb Pedersen for taking on the Stanford concession management!  Please contact summitprepathletics@gmail.com for more information and details.
