 Dear Husky Families: Teacher Appreciation Week 2014Thank you to all of the families who put together a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week for our faculty! We are grateful for the beautiful flowers and delicious lunches, and we feel recharged to finish the year off strong! Fundraising CampaignThank you to the Community High School Foundation and all of our community members who have contributed to our annual fundraising campaign! To date, we have raised 93% of our $250,000 goal! With just a few short weeks left, we hope to increase our 32% participation rate to 100% to reach our goal! We will soon launch a mentor group fundraising challenge to encourage all of our families to donate to our cause so please be on the lookout for a letter home from your child's mentor. The Community High School Foundation and the Summit Prep faculty would like to recognize community members who have generously contributed to the 2013-2014 annual fundraising campaign. Thank you so much for your financial support and for being partners in our mission to prepare a diverse student population for success in college, career, and life. Career Day
|
Career Day - As our kids head to college and select a discipline, it is equally vital for them to hear what these disciplines can lead to. Summit Prep will be hosting a career day on Wednesday, May 28 (other campuses have their own days). This event is open to parents or to your extended network. We will set up professionals from similar fields in the same classroom to provide a rich discussion opportunity for the students. If you have contacts in the community who are good candidates to come and speak, please forward this email to them. The form below should be used to capture your intent on participating in the event. If you have questions, please contact Wren Maletsky at wmaletsky@summitprep.net.
A few goals for the day:
1. Students are inspired by your career and motivated to pursue it
2. Students learn about your career path and have a realistic understanding of what it means to succeed in your profession
3. Students interact with professionals that may provide internships or are willing to offer work life experiences to Summit students. We are actively seeking partners for our internship program!
Below is a sample of the questions we will ask you to share with our students:

Appreciation Week - To everyone who helped in making this past week a great Teacher Appreciation week, a big thank you. The upcoming weekend, we welcome new incoming 9th graders and their families. Sailing Information Night
Join us to find out more about youth sailing and Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation programs. Come meet the coach and team, parents, current and prospective sailors. - June 12 at 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

HEAT - The Humanities, Entrepreneurship and Technology (HEAT) Institute in Silicon Valley is extending the Scholarship Deadline to May 22, 2014 for applicants in the Humanities and Design tracks. The HEAT Institute offers summer enrichment programs at Stanford University and in San Francisco. We offer three educational tracks--Exploration of the Humanities, Creativity & Design, and Technology & Entrepreneurship--as well as a week-long workshop on College Writing and Admissions. Summit Athletics' Potluck and Awards Dinner is Wednesday May 28, at 6 p.m. Athletes will be recognized for their All League Achievements and Academic Excellence from Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball. Athletes, Coaches, and parents are invited. Please RSVP your attendance: http://bit.ly/1l0DwHR. Husky Baseball - The Huskies have 7 wins and 5 losses in the PSAL League. Matthew Alvarado and Noah Suissa are leading the league in stolen bases 21 and 20 respectively. ResultsTuesday, May 6 - The Summit Huskies beat Mid Peninsula HS at home 14-7. They now have a 5 game wining streak.

Fall Sports for 2014 Girls Volleyball, Boys Cross Country and Girls Cross Country Fall Sports Registrations due May 31 - Sports packets (12 pages) are due in May for all Fall Sports. Medical releases (3 pages) will be due August 18 prior to tryouts which are the week of August 18 (the week prior to school starting). Practice begins August 25 and the season runs to the first week of November.
Want to get involved in Summit Athletics? Several opportunities exist to help promote and run the Summit program.
