Executive Director's Message
|
Dear Husky Families:
Congratulations to senior Mariana Trejo!
Ms. Trejo received a Presidential Service Award from The White House! Mariana has been a model student leader and her selflessness shines every single day. We cherish her and feel very lucky to be a part of her life.
Congratulations to the TedX Student Club! Our students recently secured a $1,000 grant for our TedX event on Friday, June 6th! If you would like more information, please see the website here: http://www.tedxsummitprep.org/.
Mr Cupp's Mentor Group is Making Sure to Leave No Husky Behind!
Many of our students have the intrinsic motivation to fulfill our college and career ready mission, and seek additional challenges to better prepare for the future. We have several students who would like to take additional AP exams, but are struggling to cover the additional cost. Mr. Cupp's senior mentor group wants to support the peers that they have sat alongside for the last four years, and they want to clear the financial barriers that get in the way of their success. Together, they are committed to helping their friends pay for these exams! We have amazing students here at Summit Prep -- students who lift each other up and whose compassion have no bounds. You amaze us everyday and your thoughtfulness is inspiring. Thank you for supporting your fellow students!
Donation Matching Opportunity! We are excited to announce that one of our Husky families has generously offered to double all monetary donations we receive from now until April 30th, up to $10,000! We are so grateful for their support, and we feel blessed to have a family embrace our mission to provide a rigorous, college-prep academic program for all of our students. Thank you for supporting our teachers and students, and joining in our quest to provide equitable access to a high-quality education for all students, regardless of their previous preparation or background. If you have yet to give this year, now is the time to double your donation! If you have already given this year, please consider giving again to double your donation! You may mail a check to the school or use our donate link here: http://summitps.org/involved/donate.
Come join us at our Parent Social Night this Thursday! Here at Summit Prep, we ask all families to contribute 30 hours of community service to support our program and get to know our fellow students and families. We want to encourage everyone to attend the parent social night this Thursday at Harry's Hofbrau from 6 - 7:30 p.m.! Please join our wonderful parents for a fun night of community building!

Study Trips Update
The annual grade level study trips are around the corner! In April, we will have 9th, 10th, and 11th grade go on their respective study trips. In May, the 12th grade is heading up to Tahoe. Here is what is going on at each grade level:
9th Grade (April 3-4): Thanks to this week's strong rally we are closing the gap, and now are seeking drivers for 20 students. The planning faculty and planning parents for 9th grade are holding a 9th Grade Study Trip Meeting - Wednesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at Summit Prep. All parents drivers and any parents who might want to drive, but who have questions should PLAN ON ATTENDING. This trip is to Monterey and if you available to make this awesome trip happen for your students, please email Maria Suissa at msuissa@legacypartners.com or sign up directly at bit.ly/1ffbc3A.
Let's make this experience one to remember for our students! 10th Grade (April 2-4): Sufficient drivers have been recruited - and are now getting ready for the trip down to Southern California!
11th Grade (April 9-11): Sufficient drivers have been recruited and are now getting ready for the trip up to Northern California!

FREE COLLEGE MONEY for low-income 12th grade families - info session Thursday, March 20, 6 p.m., at Summit Prep
Hello Senior Families: Opportunity Fund (http://www.opportunityfund.org/) is a local organization that will contribute $2 for every $1 that you set aside for college expenses (i.e., tuition and books). All you need to do is attend an info session here at school and have a follow up interview to determine eligibility. If you qualify, your student does a short on-line financial literacy course. After that, every $1 you put into your Opportunity Fund account is matched with $2 from local funders, so you literally triple your money!
All 12th grade families who are on scholarship at Summit Prep are STRONGLY encouraged to come to the info session. See you this Thursday, March 20, 6 p.m., at Summit Prep!
AP EXAM ORDERING WEEKHello Husky Families! It's AP exam ordering week! For 11th and 12th graders, students should have received their AP exam order forms on Friday, March 14 during 1:1 check-ins and have until next Thursday, March 20, to return their forms with checks or money orders (no cash, please). Additional information and instructions are included on the forms. Students who were out on Friday can pick up forms from their mentors this week. Any 9th and 10th graders who have been preparing outside of school for AP exams should see Mr. Fanning for a form. You can dig in to learn more about AP exams (subjects, test dates, etc.) at http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/home. Further questions can be directed to your students' mentors and/or AP teachers. Thanks!
