Message from the Executive Director, Penelope Pak

Greetings Husky Families,

With the winter holiday break on the horizon, we would like to thank everyone for a wonderful first semester and wish everyone a very happy holiday season!

earlydismissalEarly release this Thursday
We will be having our school holiday celebration this Thursday afternoon.  Please take note that school will end at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, and the building will promptly close at 3 p.m.

Congratulations to Wren Maletsky!
Ms. Wren Maletsky, our amazing AP Environmental Science teacher, was recently awarded her National Board Certification!  We are so lucky to have such a warm, caring, and superb educator on our faculty! Congratulations!

Summit highlighted in Innovate Public Schools' updated "Broken Promises" report
Summit was recently highlighted in the December 2013 issue of the "Broken Promises" report as the "highest-performing high school in the region for percentage of Latino students who graduate in 4 years eligible for a state university."  To read the entire report, please follow the link here: http://innovateschools.org/files/IPS_Report-2013_v15.pdf.

A big shout out to the Community High School Foundation (CHSF)
We would like to thank Beth Fishback, Rick Herndon, and Connie Brown, our selfless leaders of the Community High School Foundation, for leading our annual campaign to raise $250,000!  With their leadership and focus on our students, CHSF has been able to raise upwards of $82,000 so far!  CHSF is well on their way towards meeting their $250,000 goal!  If you are interested in donating and supporting our wonderful students, please follow the link here: http://summitprep.net/donate/.  While we are not tax experts, in general, donate by December 31, 2013, for your donation to provide a 2013 tax benefit.

Thank you!  Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Community High School Foundation

PAWPRINT Annual Giving Campaign.  With the last days of 2013 upon us, some of us may make some donation decisions for tax purposes. Our Annual Giving campaign is still going on, having raised 33% of our target by mid-December. Here is some important information you need to know:

(a) You can write checks to Community High School Foundation. The federal tax ID for the CHSF is 13-4224216. Please mail those to: Community High School Foundation, 890 Broadway Street, Redwood City CA 94063.

(b) You can donate online.  Go to: http://summitprep.net/donate/. Please be sure to select our school from the drop down menu. We are "Summit Prepatory - CHS". Selecting this ensures your donation comes directly back to our school. The tax-ID for that entity is 26-2034843.

(c) Company Match. If your company offers employee matching, please consider potentially doubling your donation by requesting a match. Depending on how you made your original donation (option-a or option-b above), you will need to process your match request against the right organization. If you have any questions about how to initiate that process, please send email to: spotsummit@gmail.com

PAWPRINT At no cost to you, you can raise money for Summit Prep.  Simply go to escrip.com and register your grocery, debit and credit cards in a few minutes time.  When you shop at participating stores, up to 10% of your purchase will go back to your child's school.  It is that easy!  If you haven't renewed your Safeway card, please do so now.  Last year we had 325 cards registered for Summit School and this year we only have 175 cards registered.  To renew your Safeway card, go to the escrip home page and you will find a "renew your Safeway card" link to click on.  Please take a few minutes and register your cards to earn money for your child's school today.  If you have any questions please contact Stacy Guthmann at stacyguthmann@yahoo.com.

PAWPRINT Shop and Earn Cash for Summit!

Just in time for holiday shopping, we have enabled our Summit parent website to earn cash for our school as you (and your friend and family) shop at Amazon. To do this, you must initiate from our website: http://www.summitspot.org/ - and click on the Amazon button. The rest is easy!
