Greetings Husky Families!
Thank you to everyone who attended our SPOTluck this past Friday! It was a wonderful evening of community building and we are so grateful that so many families joined us to kick the weekend off! A big shout out to Sandra Cheung, Ana Tovar, and Stacy Guthmann for coordinating an awesome event! And thank you to everyone who prepared a dish to share!
Student Spotlight
Laurel Naylor, an 11th grader at Summit Prep, was recently featured in an article published on "e.Moos" about her Intersession experience at Hidden Villa. Check out Laurel at this link here: bit.ly/1im6a6P. Finishing the Semester Successfully
With the first semester nearing its end, we would like to encourage our students to embrace the "habits of success" that will help them finish the 2013 year strongly. Each day, our students are challenged to persist through a rigorous, college-prep program We are so proud of how many of our students continue to accept the Summit Prep challenge, and seek appropriate help from teachers, mentors, and peers to improve studying and learning strategies. Even with setbacks, our students continue to find opportunities to improve their learning by reviewing resources, meeting with teachers during office hours, revising projects, retaking content assessments, and creating peer study groups to support one another.
With just a few short weeks left, let's use these "habits of success" to support a strong finish to 2013!

Fundraising at Summit Prep Our Annual Giving Campaign, which launched in October, is off to a great start. We have about 10% of families participating and are at 24% of our financial goal. You should have all received a letter, with a self addressed envelope. Any questions about how your funds will benefit the school, students, and faculty can be addressed to: spotsummit@gmail.com. This year, we are working hard at looking for additional sources of donation and have a great team working on corporate donors (Barbara Pedersen and Stacy Guthmann). Shop and Earn Cash for Summit! Just in time for holiday shopping, we have enabled our Summit parent website to earn cash for our school as you (and your friend and family) shop at Amazon. To do this, you must initiate from our website: http://www.summitspot.org/ - and click on the Amazon button. The rest is easy!

Applications for most UC and CSU campuses close on November 30, and once they are closed, they will not reopen. This is a very firm deadline. For those qualifying for the EOP programs at UC and CSU campuses, submitting the application early gives you time to complete your accompanying EOP applications by November 30. (You have to submit the first application in order to start the second.) If you have any questions, please contact your student's mentor. Thanks!
