What is UC/CSU EOP? Parents, especially of juniors and seniors, may be wondering what EOP is. EOP is short for Educational Opportunity Program. The Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) represent the University of California's effort to identify, retain, and graduate a diverse student body. With that in mind, the mission of EOP is to promote the retention, academic success, and graduation rates of first generation college, low-income, and educationally disadvantaged student populations, and to assist these students with preparation for admission to graduate and professional schools. EOP provides an array of services including orientation, academic and personal advising, peer advising, tutorial assistance in specific subject and writing areas, and preparation for graduate and professional schools. Here is information on the EOP program for CSUs - https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/eop/. Here is a video from the UC system on this program. http://bit.ly/1iXUZi4. You must indicate on your application and provide separate information for EOP. UC and CSU Completion Night, and final deadline Our "UC and CSU Application Completion Night" is on Thursday, November 14, from 3 - 8 p.m. We will gather at Summit Prep that afternoon and evening to help students and families submit UC and CSU applications if they have not already done so. Applications for most UC and CSU campuses close on November 30, and once they are closed, they will not reopen. This is a very firm deadline. For those qualifying for the EOP programs at UC and CSU campuses, submitting the application early gives you time to complete your accompanying EOP applications by November 30. (You have to submit the first application in order to start the second.) If you have any questions, please contact your student's mentor. Thanks! Gates Millennium Scholarship. Everest and Summit Prep are teaming up to support interested students in applying for the Gates Millennium Scholarship. We will host support sessions on Saturday, November 16 at Summit Prep (part 1) and Saturday, December 14 at Everest (part 2).
Contact Mr. Fanning if you are eligible and interested (jfanning@summitprep.net).
The Gates Millennium Scholarship is an incredible opportunity for eligible students. The scholarship covers the cost of college beyond what the family can pay (as determined by FAFSA) for four years and potentially graduate school as well.
