We need nine (9) drivers each way (to transport 26 students)

  2. Return time will be from that daily location at 2:35 p.m. (departing at 2:45 p.m.) bringing students back to Summit.

Summit Supply Wish Lists - Updated

PAWPRINT
Summit Supply Wish Lists - We published wish lists last week.  The response has been good, and staff realized there might be MORE supplies needed.  So, we've updated the wish list.  Many parents who are unable to help volunteer at Summit often ask if they can support our teachers in a different way.  If you are looking for a way to contribute to your student's grade, here are the lists of supplies that our teachers need by grade level and one for general supplies.  By purchasing an item on these lists, you are helping Summit by allowing money for supplies to be spent on other necessities.

Many of these items are easy enough to pick up during a routine shopping trip, so please keep it in mind.  If you purchase any item, please have your student deliver it to Karen Zamora, and make sure to mark which grade to which you are donating the item.  If you have questions about supplies to be donated, please contact Ms. Giamoni at pgiamoni@summitprep.net.

SPOT

In the SPOT-light:

Summit parents, I am sure you are feeling that the fall semester is in full swing. To stay on top of all what is happening, be sure to check out our SPOT website: http://summitspot.org/ for a summary of events and volunteering needs (there is a "Volunteer Now" tab).

We wanted to highlight a couple of important social events coming up:
  • Friday, November 8 - Our school dance needs snack donations. Please consider signing up for one or more items. Take a look here: http://bit.ly/1clt79Q. If you would rather donate cash so we can go and purchase the snacks, please do so by dropping off cash at the front desk (label it with "cash for dance") and we'll take care of the rest. Please be sure to put your name of the envelope, because we'll let you know that we received it. To manually sign up, you may send an email to: sandracheung@yahoo.com.
  • Friday, November 15 - We are holding our Summit Parent Organization Team kick off and Potluck. Come for an evening of food and bring the family.  To sign up go to: http://bit.ly/18WWmMu. Come and be part of the Summit community, and learn about how to participate in the traditions that we have established over the years.  To manually signup, you may send an email to: sandracheung@yahoo.com.

PAWPRINT Lunch Servers Needed!   The sign up for daily lunch server is up and running. We need one volunteer every day to come and assist Karen in serving lunch. To sign up, go to: http://bit.ly/1a7I2Nl. Please make note that the times are the same (12:30 - 1 p.m.), except for Fridays (12:10 - 12:45 p.m.). To manually be added please send an email to: sandracheung@yahoo.com.

PAWPRINT Help Summit Win $5,000 - Write a review of the school for www.GreatSchools.org.  If the school gets three reviews by the end of October, it will be entered for a chance to win $5,000, and every review above three is an additional entry, up to 10.  This link will take you to write a review for Summit Prep - http://bit.ly/9bufxs.  Search for Summit Prep, and then write your review.

College News

PAWPRINT UC and CSU "internal deadline," Completion Night, and final deadline

UC and CSU applications are due in November!

Our "internal deadline" is Friday, November 8. We would like all seniors to submit their UC and CSU applications by this date for two reasons. First, we will be on Expeditions the 2 weeks following November 8, and then on Thanksgiving Break after that, so the first week in November is our last week to really work together on these applications.

Second, for those qualifying for the EOP programs at UC and CSU campuses, submitting the application early gives you time to complete your accompanying EOP applications by November 30. (You have to submit the first application in order to start the second.)

Our "UC and CSU Application Completion Night" is on Thursday, November 14, from 3 - 8 p.m. We will gather at Summit Prep that afternoon and evening to help students and families submit UC and CSU applications if they have not already done so.

Lastly, applications for most UC and CSU campuses close on November 30, and once they are closed, they will not reopen. This is a very firm deadline.

If you have any questions, please contact your student's mentor. Thanks!

PAWPRINT College Visits - Every year, Summit Prep works very hard to arrange visits to our high school from a wide variety of colleges.  This is the peak season for these visits.  It's usually appropriate for Juniors and Seniors to attend these meetings which are typically at lunch or directly after school.  Please visit this site: http://college.summitps.org/college-visits or log in to your child's Naviance account for a listing of schools and dates.

PAWPRINT College Readiness - the College Readiness webpage has been relocated and is now here: http://college.summitps.org/. Please take advantage of the information which has been compiled by Summit's professional staff, including a comprehensive calendar of college-related events, including college fairs, visits and testing information, as well as scholarship information.

Summit Sailing Team Sweeps the Pumpkin Regatta! sailboat

This two-day regatta was a sailor's delight.  Warm breezes and sunny weather made for great sailing and spectating. On Sunday, Summit senior Kyle Larsen and freshman Peter Werner took First Place in last weekend's costumed sailing race in Alameda.  Juniors Craig Bianchi (Summit) and Radley Peschel (Everest) took a quick Second.  If you are interested in joining this winning team, please contact Coach Molly at obryan.molly@gmail.com or check out www.pysf.us for more info.
