Message from Executive Director, Penelope Pak

PAWPRINT Dear Husky Families, with October now in full swing, our recruitment season has begun!  We had our first Open House for 8th grade families this week, and we couldn't have done it without Ana Tovar and Lupe Orozco.  Thank you for volunteering!  We are so grateful for your support!

We are also looking for parent volunteers to help with application processing and data entry needs.  If you are interested in assisting with Excel data entry or mailing postcard receipts, please contact Patti Giamoni at pgiamoni@summitprep.net.

Sibling and Founding Family Shadow Day

We will be hosting Summit Prep 8th grade siblings and Founding Family 8th grade students for a shadow day on Thursday, October 17 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.  Please email Patti Giamoni at pgiamoni@summitprep.net if you are interested in reserving a spot.

Please join us for our Mother/Daughter Tea Fundraiser!

The Social Committee is kicking off the school year with our first Mothers and Daughters Tea event!  Please join us for a lovely afternoon lunch with our wonderful community on Saturday, October 12 from 1 - 3 p.m. at Summit Prep. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds go to the Social Committee event scholarship fund.  See the article below for details on obtaining tickets and how you can help!

Student Awards

We would like to warmly congratulate four of our students for their outstanding academic achievement!

Congratulations to Amanda Barth for being named a Semifinalist in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program!  Amanda is one of 16,000 semifinalists and she will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth about $35 million that will be offered next spring.

Congratulations to Harry Justus and Greg Oppenheimer for being named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program!  Both Harry and Greg are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.

Congratulations to Jess Taylor for being named an Outstanding Participant in the National Achievement Scholarship Program!  Jess scored in the top 3% of more than 160,000 African-American students on the PSAT/NMSQT, and he will compete in the 2014 National Achievement Program.

We are extremely proud of our Summit Huskies!
