Message from the Executive Director, Penelope Pak

PAWPRINT Dear Husky Families:

Thank you so much for attending our "Back to School Night" this past week. We are very appreciative of the kind words and emails we have received in praise of the evening, and we are so grateful for your support.  In this spirit of gratitude, I would like to personally thank the following people for making the evening so wonderful:
  • Beth Fishback, Maria Suissa and CHSF for supporting our student culture and school pride with t-shirt sales
  • The Young Dreamer Network for providing yummy treats
  • Patti Giamoni, Alara MacGillivray, Jose Alcala, and Bjorn Wickstrom for supporting our Spanish-speaking families
We are stronger together than we are as individuals, and your support empowers us to better serve our students.  Thank you so much for your commitment to our school.

Expeditions Start Monday!

We are excited to launch our first Expedition this Monday!  This is our opportunity to support our students in meeting the "thoughtful and contributing member of society" part our mission by providing authentic, real-world learning experiences that help develop "habits of success."  All students, including internship and independent study students, are required to attend the first day (unless they have made other arrangements with Mr. Ponikvar).  Classes start at 8:15 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.

Here's to a great week!

Introduction by Alice Kleeman, M-A College Advisor

Wednesday, October 9, 2013, 7 - 8:30 p.m.
M-A Performing Arts Center (PAC)

Come hear from the experts! Don't miss Robin Mamlet and Christine VanDeVelde, co-authors of College Admission: From Application to Acceptance, Step by Step! College Admission is the ultimate user's manual and go-to guide for any student or family approaching the college application process. Featuring the wise counsel of more than 50 deans of admission, no other guide has such thorough, expert, compassionate, and professional advice.

Let's be honest: applying to college can be stressful for students and parents. But here's the good news: students have many great college options. Robin Mamlet has been dean of admission at Stanford University, Swarthmore, and Sarah Lawrence, and journalist and parent Christine VanDeVelde has been through the process firsthand as the parent of a college applicant.

Refreshments from 6:30 - 7 p.m. in the PAC Foyer.
Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be offered.
