Note Correction on Orientation
We inadvertently showed orientation as being Wednesday through Friday, but it is only Wednesday and Thursday, August 21 and 22. We apologize for the inconvenience! Here is a link to this year's academic calendar in PDF format and the Events calendar in PDF format. Camping Trip Drivers Still Needed!Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to drive on our camping trip! We are still looking for more drivers (we only have about 200 students covered and we need 400 students transported!) so please visit our SPOT website or our school campus to pick up a driver application. Upcoming Facilities Work Day this Sunday from 10 - 2 p.m.We would like to enlist our families to help us with some home improvement items. We will need some strong arms, ladders, and power tools to move some large artwork on our walls to a more visible area in the building, move furniture down to the garage, and perhaps paint some walls (this is an ambitious goal). If you have power tools, please bring them! Our work day is August 18 from 10 a.m - 2 p.m. If you are available to help and haven't already RSVP, please do so by emailing Ms. Pak at ppak@summitprep.net. New Athletics Director in the news!Summit Prep welcomes Candace Naylor as our new Athletics Director! Candace is the parent of two Summit Prep students. Check out the San Jose Mercury news article on Candace here. We will present information on our coaches in upcoming editions. Congratulations to Amanda Barth!Amanda Barth, rising senior at Summit Prep, performs astrophysics research in Santa Barbara. Over 39 intense days this summer, Amanda Barth operated a telescope to take images of a near-earth asteroid, and wrote her own computer software to measure its position precisely and calculate its orbit around the sun. Barth joined 35 other top science students from around the U.S. and the world for learning, late nights, and collaboration at the Summer Science Program (SSP) on the campus of Westmont College. Since 1959, gifted teenagers have come to this unique program to spend their days in college-level lectures, and their nights imaging and measuring the speck of light from a distant asteroid.
