Chickens vs Eagles
Becky Clegg
Church Administrator
Steve is out ill today so I agreed to blog this week for him. He'll be back soon. The cold and flu season continues to plague not only congregation members but staff as well.

Are you feeling the bug of Spring Fever yet? I think Ramona and Obie embrace Spring in different ways. Yesterday Ken took them to the groomer to have their toe nails clipped and for some reason when he brought them home they were frisky. When I got home from work they were running around the yard like a couple of crazed chickens. Our neighbor has actual chickens so I feel inclined to mention crazed chickens to give you a more accurate picture. In fact, this morning at 5am when I'm standing outside in my slippers, jammies and robe with the dogs we could hear the chickens from across the street squawking up a storm. Sometimes they are so loud and obnoxious that Ramona decides to let out her barking tirade to try to stop it. Of course I have to scold her because then she wakes up the next door neighbor. Such is life. I must say that I am enjoying the rain and the sun as does Ramona and Obie whether we have Spring Fever or not. They love to run around the yard and look for all kinds of insects and then retire to the porch for a little R & R in the sunshine. What a life they lead at the Clegg household!

As I was wondering the other day about why people in urban areas are choosing chickens over dachshunds or other pets, I thought about the analogy of people being like chickens or like an eagle. Chickens tend to scratch around in a confined area content to do their thing and not go outside their fenced area. They seem to merrily go on their way and don't know that anything exists outside the realm of the coop. An eagle however is not confined and can fly up to great heights to get above the crazed masses. If we strive to be like an eagle we can soar on the winds and expand our possibilities. I love the verse in Isaiah 40:31: "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Sometimes we may truly feel like being a chicken but I hope you have many opportunities in your future to soar like an eagle and experience the difference!

Happy St. Patrick's Day,
Becky

EASTER FLOWERS

"Full of beauty, fragrance and life that breaks forth from a lifeless bulb or seed, spring flowers are a wonderful reminder and symbol of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who broke forth from the grave on the first Easter, conquering death so that all who believe in Him might also have new life."

In celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter Sunday worshippers are invited to bring fresh flowers of any color or size, cut from the garden or purchased at the store. These flowers will be placed on a wire wrapped cross during the Easter morning worship services. The flowered cross is a beautiful symbol and reminder of the transformation and new life of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

WHAT IS PER CAPITA? presbyterian logo

For those who ordered offering envelopes, you should have received them by now. When you have them in hand, open the cover and the first envelope says "per capita". We've been asked about the Per Capita fee for 2015. We though some folks might like to know what this means.

What is "per capita"? It is merely our share of helping to pay for Presbytery's 2015 expenses. All Presbyterian churches in our area make these annual contributions to Presbytery. Each active member of our church is asked to contribute $37.00. If you have questions, call Erica Waterman at the church office.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY
