Brutus Quadruple amputee dog learns to get around in prosthetics
"You can't explain to an animal why you are putting these contraptions on their feet. You can't explain to them, that it's to help them," foster mom Laura Aquilina told CNN affiliate KDVR. The Loveland, Colorado, dog's paws suffered extreme damage from frostbite. His feet were then reportedly amputated by his trainer. Brutus has been adopted by Aquilina who's been walking and exercising the dog to learn balance. "He just has these little peg legs to get around on and he does a pretty good job inside the home," says Aquilina.
But his challenge has been walking outside where his "high-stepping...resembles a bucking bronco." Read more

 REAL STORIES
Meet Wayne On April 11, 1998, at the age of 34, I was in a motorcycle accident. That was the day my life changed. After hitting a car on my motorcycle I was airlifted to a hospital where I was told that I had two broken legs, a broken arm, and a broken jaw. My left ankle was broken in several places and my right leg was even worse. My arm was broken in two places as well as my jaw.
Over the next several years I endured nine surgeries on my left ankle including removing titanium plates and ending on the fusing of my ankle joint. I was in such pain I even tried acupuncture. When that didn't work, I made the choice to amputate at age 40. I felt like that was my best option since I still had at least 25 more years to work. Learn more about Wayne's story |
