Note from our New Executive Director

Dear Alumnae,

I'm honored to follow in fellow alumna, Becky Jo's, footsteps as executive director of this incredible organization.  Names and logos may change through the years (heck - I was one of the few "Young Women of the Year" participants) but one thing remains consistent and true: we are family.  We are a sisterhood of smart, talented, and accomplished women each making an impact in our communities in our own ways.  I treasure the connection to all of you that I'm granted simply by having participated in this wonderful experience as a teenager.  I certainly never imagined how

much Distinguished Young Women would factor into my life as an adult - but what a pleasant surprise! Never hesitate to reach out to our team at the national office should you have any ideas or want to get involved as a volunteer.  Please keep in touch with us and each other.  Together, we can accomplish anything!

In the spirit,

Heather Smith Rocker

Distinguished Young Women unite to help you Do Good Well

Inspired by the meaningful impact that leaders like fellow Distinguished Young Women alumnae have made in communities around the world, Nina Vasan (2002 West Virginia) and Jennifer Przybylo (2003 Illinois participant) have written a groundbreaking guide to social change for students and young adults. Already a #1 Amazon Best Seller and praised by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus as "the primer for social innovation," Do Good Well: Your Guide to
Leadership, Action, and Social Innovation is a unique resource that draws upon the experiences of today's most talented young leaders -- including alumna Divya Srinivasan (2010 Virginia) -- to deliver a comprehensive and concrete roadmap for substantive, sustainable change. Incredibly versatile, the book is an ideal partner in both a group setting (teaching courses on entrepreneurship, leadership, or service learning; facilitating student affairs programs; managing businesses, nonprofits, or clubs) and as an individual read (unlocking your potential, kickstarting an idea, and maximizing your impact).

You can join the Do Good Well community at www.dogoodwell.org, a site created to help Distinguished Young Women and other leaders of this movement unite and work together. There are a number of exciting opportunities coming up, including the Share What Works Contest, which awards prizes to the best personal reflections about change-making, and The Do Good Well Fund, a social impact fund committed to investing in young leaders like you.

Do Good Well is available on Amazon at
www.amzn.to/VPRUX6. Educators or administrators interested in using Do Good Well in their classrooms or programs can order an evaluation copy by emailing dogoodwellteam@gmail.com.
