DEPT. OF CORRECTIONS
Annual Report revised, updated.
Due to revision errors, some incorrect dollar figures appeared in the expenses section of the 2015 Annual Report (July/August 2016 issue of The Harmonizer, second to last page of Annual Report section). To correct the errors, we have since updated the online version, will publish the correction in our August/September Harmonizer, and will be sending this revised copy to the current chapter presidents in anticipation of the Fall House of Delegates meetings.

We apologize for any confusion the incorrect numbers may have caused and hope you have enjoyed reading our most informative and robust Annual Report to date!

SOTW: Sing, as sung by Pentatonix
Sing was written by the a cappella supergroup Pentatonix and featured as the third single from their self-titled album, which debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The group became a household name by winning the third season of the NBC hit show The Sing-Off, and has since amassed a huge following on YouTube and through social media.

Perfect for youth camps, mixed harmony events, or any group looking to try out a more contemporary a cappella style, this arrangement is best when performed with a loose, relaxed feel. During the Rap section at ms. 85, get the other voices to join in with the basses on the root rhythms in unison to help lock in the groove. Claps, Snaps, and Stomps are clearly marked and are encouraged to be performed as-written to add percussive energy to the performance. Have some fun!

Arranger Wayne Grimmer works as a Music Educator for the Barbershop Harmony Society where he is involved directly with the Nashville music community. Wayne is the principal arranger and lead singer of his quartet Round Midnight , and his published arrangements include Fight Song, All About that Bass, and Sugar by Maroon 5.

SINGING WITH THE WORLDS LARGEST QUARTET!
Member Spotlight: Harmony Happening in the Hills
The participants in the annual Harmony Happening in the Hills event took their music to the home of the largest quartet in the world... Mt. Rushmore! The Shrine of Democracy Chorus hosts the event each year, bringing together chapter members from all over the Rocky Mountain District for a weekend of activities. After a day or two of learning and singing together with guest clinician Donny Rose, it was time to perform for the local crowd on a gorgeous summer day.

RESEARCHERS WANTED
Join the team! Project Consultant opportunity available
As part of its strategic planning process, the Barbershop Harmony Society is seeking the assistance of a researcher or consultant for a limited time, limited scope engagement.

The goal of this research is to produce a visual map and written analysis of choral field-building organizations and aggregators.  With this map and analysis, BHS and its partners can better understand and capture the opportunities for building a stronger culture of singing.

SING ALONG WITH JIM
Jim Henry to lead chorus of music educators at NAfME's major annual conference
Barbershop is taking its place in the first ranks of music education professionals this fall, when Dr. Jim Henry leads a chorus of male music educators at the 2016 NAfME National In-Service Conference , November 10-13 in Grapevine, Texas.

We Barbershoppers know and love Jim as a quartetter, coach, and director of the Ambassadors of Harmony Chorus, but he is well recognized throughout the choral world as well. Earlier this year, Jim and Crossroads were honored by NAfME with its Stand for Music Award, and participated in Hill Day, its annual advocacy event in Washington, D.C.

Being asked to lead a chorus of your peers is a huge honor, of course, and showcasing the barbershop style in the event's grand finale concert firmly establishes the genre and its practitioners as a respected part of the larger choral world.

Oh, and those leading practitioners? Those music educators will get to experience what many Barbershoppers dream of: they'll be singing alongside the twelve-time champion Vocal Majority Chorus and quartet medalists Main Street.

If you are a music educator, Jim needs your voice: a core of experienced Barbershoppers at the center of this chorus will be be a huge boost. For details, please contact outreach@barbershop.org.
