VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Signature
During Harmony University this year, there has been much discussion from our judges on faculty about the shift from Presentation to Performance. Many examples have been shared, including this electric performance from Signature at the Nashville convention. Seldom does a quartet get applause as they BEGIN a song, and many have cited this quartet as a model for authentic storytelling.

Signature - A Change Is Gonna Come

Next week, we'll be sharing the general session talk on Performance from judges Marty Lovick, Gary Steinkamp, Mark Kettner, and Gary Plaag that leads us through the journey from PRS to PER and how you might already be aligned with the category. Stay tuned!
GENERALLY AWESOME
Harmony U from wherever you are!
The students and faculty at Harmony University 2016 have had an incredible week of learning and connecting with WHY we sing. We started with Joe Cerutti's stellar keynote address and it didn't stop there: musical morning sessions, amazing faculty willing to share their talent freely, highly engaged students, and a feeling of purpose for every person on campus... it's been a week of transformation and reflection.

Don Rose (center), Director of Harmony University, accepted a check representing $80,000 in charitable funds from Harmony Foundation International. Sharon Miller (left), current President and CEO of Harmony Foundation International, and Ryan Killeen, Senior Director of Development, presented the check at Sunday's opening session. The funds, distributed in 2016, supported programmatic needs, as well as scholarships to attendees.

Scholarships to Harmony University were awarded to 150 music educators this year, up from 118 in 2015. That's a 123 percent increase from 2013, when 67 attendees received scholarships. These educators represent hundreds of choruses across this country and reach thousands of singers every year. They leverage the growth of barbershop harmony in their schools and communities, and made valuable connections with colleagues and mentors.
