FROM THE VAULT... LITERALLY

Original contest footage - The Gaynotes
When BHS Audio/Visual manager Jeremy Gover came across some film canisters with labels from the late 50's, there was no doubt that some further exploration was in order. A bit more time in the archives (plus some digital converting at a local shop in Nashville) yielded footage of 1958 International Quartet Champions The Gaynotes, moments after being announced as winners from the podium.
We are thrilled to share this with you and are working on more treasures from the past. Watch for more from the archives throughout the coming months!

THE KIND OF INFECTIOUS THAT'S GOOD TO SPREAD AROUND
HU at Midwinter: Class highlight

BUT I KNOW A GUY... It all starts with Customer Service!
From time to time, members let us know that they are having trouble getting an issue resolved or finding a piece of information. Sometimes that's on us (and we're always working to improve our systems,) but more often it is because they haven't contacted the right department... Customer Service!
It may seem like an obvious place to
start, but many well-meaning barbershoppers send a quick note to a person they know on staff, regardless of whether that person can actually help them or not. And since your devoted HQ team all wants to help out, we start sticking our noses in other departments and fire up email chains and... well... basically get in the way of letting Customer Service do what they do best: track your calls and questions, make notes about your specific needs, and provide a contact that you can follow up with if you need more assistance. It's almost like they have a comprehensive system of relaying information or something!
Now, there's A LOT more of you than there are of them, so instant answers aren't always possible. BUT! The CS team is a hard-working bunch and really do want to solve every problem and answer every question that you bring to them, so your patience and friendly demeanor is VERY appreciated. A great call with a member can make their day... maybe today you will be the sunshine in someone's life! |
NEED A SONG ABOUT PUMPKIN PIE? NO PROBLEM.
SONG OF THE WEEK
With so many loved ones living far from home these days, this 1954 classic will ring true in the hearts of many audiences members. Recorded most famously by Perry Como, The Carpenters, and Barry Manilow, (There Is No Place Like) Home For The Holidays is a loving ode to the sights, smells, and traditions of the holiday season. This arrangement by Burt Szabo and Russ Foris sings wonderfully and will be a great addition to your Christmas repertoire!

LET'S DO THIS, BARBERSHOPPERS
Aca-Scuse me? We can sing with VOCALOSITY?
Here's the dealio: irrepressible aca-promoter Deke Sharon sees part of the mission of the show as leading the huddled masses yearning to be freed of instruments to great local singing outfits. He's encouraging all venues on the tour to offer the Aca-Performance of A Lifetime:
VOCALOSITY's "Aca-Performance of a Lifetime" contest is an opportunity for local communities to get their local a cappella groups excited about the upcoming VOCALOSITY tour by presenting an opportunity to perform as the "opening act" for their VOCALOSITY engagement. Contestants must submit a 1-2 minute video recording of their a cappella group performing any contemporary song and upload to YouTube. |

What's missing from this performance? YOU.
This year's All Chapter Chorus at Midwinter offers participants the opportunity to sing as a part of the incredible Westminster Chorus. Jay Giallombardo's stirring Tribute To World Peace Medley is one of the songs for the week, featuring two guest quartets from our terrific show lineup.
Here's a taste of what you'll be missing out on if you don't sign up!
