BARBER-SHIZZLE... IT'S DA BOMB, YO.

Main Street goes viral!

We knew they were special. We knew the performance was special. And when
Main Street's modern pop medley "These Will Be The Good Old Days Twenty Years From Now" hit YouTube, the rest of the world learned it, too... to the tune of over 100,000 views in 24 hours and closing in on 200,000 views as of press time!

This performance earned them a third-place bronze medal for the second time, and fifth medal overall. The veteran performers have traveled the world, although they're partial to the amusements of Orlando, Florida, their home base, where they have all worked as entertainers .
Follow them on Facebook, on Twitter, and visit their web page to learn more about this beloved quartet.

WALK, RIDE, SLIP, SLIDE.... ANY WAY TO GET THERE!

PTX IS JUST LIKE US!
"We still watch the barbershop quartet finals..."
says Pentatonix

As Grammy Award-winning juggernaut Pentatonix continues blazing new trails in the contemporary a cappella scene, they stop for a moment to admit what may surprise many. Even while PTX has redefined 'cool' for a cappella enthusiasts, these confessed choir nerds continue embracing their roots, implore everyone to SING, and roughly once a year take a little time to watch the Barbershop Harmony Society Quartet Finals

Music educators turn out by the thousands each year at the annual In-Service Conference of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME.) The Barbershop Harmony Society will play a major role again this year, with featured performances and workshops including:

  • Opening night concert performance by Crossroads, 2009 International Quartet Champion. This is A Big Deal -- a featured spot that signals that these men represent the very best in vocal music. (Which we all knew, right?)

  • Featured clinic presentation by Crossroads and Grammy-winners The Fairfield Four on the African-American roots of barbershop harmony.

  • Featured workshop presentation by Music Educator Outreach specialist Wayne Grimmer demonstrating an innovative system for teaching harmony for singers beginning in early middle school.

As always, our Outreach team will be on hand meeting educators, answering questions, handing out packets of music, and promoting our many programs for young singers.

Shows?? We got em!

Folks who attended the 2015 Midwinter convention in New Orleans witnessed again the ever-increasing variety of barbershop entertainment taking the stage. Show producer Carlos Barillo continues to boost our game for Reno, with innovative staging, collaboration with local performers, and some wicked-cool surprises that we're almost ready to reveal.

Already confirmed:

And it's all an elevator ride away, because everything is under one roof in our five-star hotel!

Arena renovation in Minneapolis affects 2017 convention plan

The Minneapolis Convention and Visitors Bureau has informed us that the Target Center, a primary venue for our 2017 International Convention, will be undergoing a major renovation during July, 2017. This is breaking news that will potentially have an impact on our 2017 plans. We are in deep conversation with the City of Minneapolis and will keep you posted as our options and solutions reveal themselves. Due to the timing of this announcement, the probability that the 2017 International Convention will be moved to another city is fairly high at this point.

We are exploring a variety of 2017 alternatives that will meet the needs and expectations of our competitors and audiences. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and an official announcement made once the location has been confirmed.
