LEADERSHIP FORUM 2014
Leadership by digging around in the riverbank
This year's annual Leadership Forum looked a little different from past editions. For starters, part of it took place in a river bottom.
"Rather than just jamming our national leadership team in a conference room for a weekend of PowerPoints and buffet suppers, we wanted to broadcast our energies into our community," said Donny Rose, Director of Harmony University. Under a theme of "We sing, we serve," the 75 district officers and staff split into two groups. One went to sing in popular tourist destinations in the heart of Nashville. The other team joined volunteers cleaning up a waterway still littered with trash from the 2010 floods that wrought havoc on Nashville.
The result? A great fraternal experience for all, and a chance to live one of the Society's guiding purposes: "to initiate, promote and participate in charitable projects."

FOUR CHAMPS | FOUR ERAS | SAME SONG
"Without A Song" stays fresh through the years
Walter Latzko's Without a Song is classic roots 'shop in many ways. Like As Time Goes By, surprise, another Latzko, it's a timeless arrangement sung by multiple champ quartets. Mike Slamka, a champka from Power Play and Crossroads, put together this awesome YouTube video, merging recordings from The Buffalo Bills, The Suntones, Bluegrass Student Union, and Keepsake to make barbershop magic. Warning, this video might become a weekly listening exercise in awesomeness.
