SONG OF THE WEEK
Singing Mr. Disney
Saving Mr. Banks, the story of Walt Disney's effort to create Mary Poppins, opens nationwide this weekend (Dec. 20). The film tells the story of the tough courtship between Disney (Tom Hanks) and Pamela Travers (Emma Thompson) and the story-telling/songwriting efforts of Robert and Richard Sherman.
We thought it might be fun to look at some the famous songs from the movie.

23K Project: A great year! Last chance to win!
We are nearing an end to a great year in the history of our Society---the Year of the Volunteer.
The 23K project is the first effort to identify and utilize the vast resource of skills and talents that our members have. After almost 700 members were personally contacted by telephone, the 23K project entered Phase II, in which all members were sent personal invitations to participate by filling out their own questionnaires. Now, more than 3,000 members have responded to the 23K call and have given us their opinions about the Society and how satisfied they are. At the same time, they also identified their own personal skills and talents, and nearly 1,650 have agreed to volunteer if a future project identifies a need for their talents. We are incredibly grateful to all who have responded to the call to duty so far.
As the year is winding down, Phases I and II of the 23K project will be wrapping up soon. During the holidays, while you are filled to the brim with your holiday spirit, why not take a few minutes to complete your own questionnaire? We really do want to know how you feel about things in the Society, and you can tell Marty and Shannon personally what you think---good or bad, they are listening. Of course, the volunteer army is always looking for qualified recruits, so there is still time to enlist.
There are only a few more weeks to win one of the wonderful CDs being awarded as prizes by the AIC and AISQC. One CD is awarded each week to a member randomly selected from those who have submitted a 23K questionnaire. Our latest weekly winners are:
- Steven Dunie
- Cliff Johnson
- Gerald Grimes
- John Simpson
To claim your prize, or to ask any questions about the 23K project, please contact "Montana Jack" Fitzpatrick at mtjack@cox.net
Look in your inbox. Your invitation may be waiting there!

As a Barbershopper, you know how singing can improve the lives of young people, and for some, create a new life direction. Without your support, many will never discover the joys that barbershop has to offer.
At this time of year, we are reminded of what giving really means. Every good act is significant. Each gift is a gift that truly matters. Joining together for the good of many is not only the spirit of the holiday, it's the essence of barbershopping!
With this knowledge alone, how can we afford not to help?
