Our pal R.J. Tavares knows what we mean when we talk about changing lives. A member of the G20 Chorus, he's just one of many beneficiaries of youth programs underwritten by Harmony Foundation International, and in July, he experienced a "mountaintop moment" when he got to sing on the international stage during the Saturday Night Spectacular. (John Miller, left, loaned him one of his gold medals for the occasion.)

Changing the lives of more kids by helping our local music educators and youth choir directors in whatever ways they need- with no strings attached- is the theme for the upcoming Nov./Dec. 2013 issue of The Harmonizer. Many of our chapters and quartets are already doing this, and we want to know your stories!

Celebrate 75 years of Barbershop Harmony at Carnegie Hall

The Barbershop Festival presented by Manhattan Choral Productions is designed for qualified barbershop harmony chorus singers to collaborate on a selection of barbershop songs under the direction of renowned barbershop specialist - Mark Fortino.

Participating singers will experience rehearsals and performance with Heart of America Chorus, Meredith Wilson's own River City Barbershop Chorus, Crossroads, The Gas House Gang and Premium Blend - not only preparing the ensemble for the final concert at world-renowned Carnegie Hall, but also sharing and developing musicianship skills that will benefit the singers far beyond their residency in New York.

AIC announces support for the 23K project!

The Association of International Champions (AIC) has agreed to donate free CDs from its Masterwork series to be awarded to 23K project callers who complete at least 25 calls. Winners can choose from 17 selected titles from the AIC Masterworks series. Featured quartets range from 1954 champions The Orphans to 1986 champs Rural Route 4. The 23K project team is delighted to have this wonderful support from the AIC.
