Thanking Our Troops Campaign Underway! Please Help Us Support Captain McBride and His Unit in Afghanistan!!
Each year, in celebration of Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving, Lois Lenski adopts an American soldier for the holidays.  This year, we are adopting Captain Tyler McBride, a Captain in the United States Air Force.  Captain McBride is a family friend of Cathy Griffin, one of Lenski's Instructional Paraprofessionals.  Captain McBride was raised in Thornton, Colorado and he attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.  He is now stationed at Bagram Military Base in Afghanistan, where he is a combat F-16 Pilot.  Captain McBride is currently one of just 30 F-16 Pilots in all of Afghanistan.  Among other roles, Captain McBride acts as Chief of Safety for the 421st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron. We will be supporting Captain McBride and the soldiers in his unit.
This Campaign runs through Monday, November 16th.  We ask each Lenski student to write a letter of encouragement and support that will be sent to our adopted soldiers in Afghanistan.  Please use the letter template attached here.  We are also asking our student body to contribute the following items for care packages:

Playing Cards, Hacky Sacks, etc.
I-Tunes gift cards
Nuts, Dried Fruit
Cliff bars/protein bars/cereal bars
Cough Drops
Bagged Candy and Gum (no chocolate, and no leftover Halloween candy please)
Individual flavor packets  for bottled water (Propel, Gatorade, Crystal Light)
Paperback Puzzle books (crosswords, Sudoku, etc.)
Magazines
Clorox wipes (Captain McBride tells us that it is dusty in Afghanistan!)

The goal of this campaign is to brighten the spirits of our sponsored soldiers during the winter holidays, and to help Lenski's students honor the contributions of the United States military.  Thank you for participating in Lenski's Thanking Our Troops Campaign.  We appreciate your support!
