Mobile Blood Drive At Lenski - Please Sign Up To Donate!
April 9, 9am - 1pm

Next Thursday, April 9th, is Lenski's Spring Blood Drive to support Children's Hospital.  Out of 32 donor positions, we have 15 spots open.  It is expensive for Children's Hospital to bring their blood drive mobile to Lenski, and they request that we fill all spots.  Are you available April 9th to donate blood?  If so, please click on the Blood Donor sign-up sheet.  The donation process takes about 20 to 30 minutes total, from arrival, paperwork, a brief interview to the actual blood draw.

We still need food and drinks for our donors!  If you would like to provide these items for the blood drive, please click on Food/Drink Donation.

For eligibility requirements to donate blood, please click on Donor Eligibility.  If you have traveled out of the country in the last six weeks, please call 720-777-5398 to very eligibility.

A successful blood drive at our school can make an incredible difference for the patients of Colorado Children's Hospital.  Without blood, many lifesaving procedures performed at the hospital would be impossible.  Thirty minutes of your time could mean a lifetime to a child!  Thank you for your consideration.

Meet Katie Smith, PTO VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) Team

My name is Katie Smith and I have been a parent at Lenski for the last 8 years. My husband Scott and I live in Heritage Greens with our two sons. Ben is currently a 7th grader at Powell and Jackson is in 4th grade at Lenski.

During my time at Lenski I have enjoyed volunteering in my children's classrooms, the Library, and various PTO events and programs.  My PTO involvement started with volunteering for events like Kindergarten registration, lunch on the lawn, and field day.  I have since had the chance to run events and programs like Box Tops for Education and buddy breakfast.  I served on the PTO Board for 3 yrs in the VIPS role, handling volunteer recruitment and coordination.  I am currently responsible for reporting our volunteer hours to the district, so I see all of the volunteer hours that go into making Lenski the school that it is and am so thankful to all of you.  In what will most likely be my last position at Lenski, I have volunteered to help coordinate next year's 5th grade continuation. So if you have a child going into 5thgrade next year, we will be looking for your ideas and help!

Through my volunteer positions, I have gained better insight into the workings of the school, a strong feeling of belonging, and friends I hope to have long after my days at Lenski are done.  It seems like we are all so busy these days, but if you can find some free time, volunteering at Lenski is a great way to make use of it.

"It Starts At Lenski" Dinner and Auction A Huge Success!

It Starts at Lenski was a huge success! Almost 250 parents, teachers and community members filled the ballroom at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center on March 14. Here are some of the highlights!

  - The silent auction featured beautiful classroom art projects, once-in-a-lifetime teacher experiences and over 50 other exciting silent auction items including a Payton Manning signed helmet, a weekend in Breckenridge and a Vanmoof bike.

  - Everyone enjoyed a three course meal and an entertaining evening led by emcees Kirk Zieser, Lenski alum and Arapahoe freshman, as well as Brad LaChappelle, our auctioneer.

  - The entertainment featured the soothing sounds of the Arapahoe Band, the excitement of the Arapahoe Cheerleaders and the hilarious songs of the Powell 7th grade singers. It also featured a rousing game of Heads or Tails, a Wine Wall and Lenski-inspired bracelets.

 - The video was hosted by our own Missy Franklin and featured current and former Lenski students.  View the video here.

 - Live auction items included a VIP Denver Nuggets experience, a dinner party for 10 with a chef and a holiday week at The Cabin in Silverthorne.

All in all, the event raised more than $82,000 gross and over $65,000 will go directly to Lenski  to pay for specialist teachers salaries for the 2015-2016 school year.

Click here to see all the photographs taken at the event. All photographs are full resolution and downloadable for free! Photography was provided by Evelyn Firman.

Thank you to all our sponsors, parents and the community for supporting this incredible event!
