Meet Lisanna Parkhurst, Volunteer Coordinator for the Lenski Media Center
Hi, my name is Lisanna Parkhurst and I organize the volunteers for the Lenski Media Center.  This is our 7th year at Lenski, and we have really enjoyed our time in this wonderful community.  My husband, Alex, and I currently have students in three Littleton schools: Emma is a sophomore at Littleton High School, Natalie is a 7th grader at Newton Middle School, and Evan is a 3rd grader at Lenski.  When my kids were younger I was on the Lenski PTO board and helped with several auctions as well as the directory, yearbook and family handbook.  Now that we are more spread out, I try and do a little bit at every school, including being on the PTO board at Newton and volunteering in the Post-Grad Center at Littleton High School. As we start our first college search (so hard to believe - it really does go by so quickly!), I can truly say that the skills our children gained at Lenski have successfully prepared them for middle school, high school and beyond.

I love working in the Lenski Media Center and organizing the volunteers that support our amazing library staff.  We have a dedicated group of over 20 volunteers that come in 2-3 times a month and check books in and out, shelve returned materials, and help with special projects in the library.  This allows our library staff to spend as much time as possible working with students, fostering a love of reading as well as laying the foundation for important research skills.  Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade come to the library once a week as one of their 'specials'.  Fourth and 5th graders come in on their own during silent reading time or as a class to research special projects. If you have never been in the Lenski Library, you should come check it out sometime.   As Lenski parents, you are able to check out books from the library for your children; I rarely return from volunteering without at least one book I think Evan might like.  If you are interested in volunteering in the library feel free to email me at lisannafp@gmail.com.  We will be putting next year's volunteer schedule together starting in August.
