Meet Jane-Estes Schmeling, Love from Lenski Head Cupid
|
My name is Jane Estes-Schmeling and this year marks my 8 th year as a Lenski parent. All 4 of our children have attended Lenski from kindergarten and currently our twins, Mariah and Jaxson, are in Mrs. Jones 4 th grade class. Our son, Jaden, is a 7 th grader at Powell.
During our 8 years at Lenski, we have developed strong and meaningful relationships with the faculty and staff that will last long past our children graduating on to middle school and high school. The educational experience at Lenski has exceeded our expectations and has definitely set our kids up for success beyond elementary school! Just as importantly, we believe that the personal growth and character-building that the school and staff emphasize has helped make our children better citizens of their world.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude every day for the amazing Lenski school community. Our daughter, Sydney, was diagnosed with a rare and fatal brain tumor when she was in 1st grade. During her two year journey through her illness, the school community became a safe and special place for her where she could just be a kid and not a patient. The staff, parents and students were such an amazing and positive source of strength for all of us. That is why it was so important to our family that the statues honoring her life be placed at Lenski to hopefully bring joy to everyone who sees them. It was a place that Sydney loved so dearly!
I have volunteered in many different areas during our years at the school including Kleenex & Coffee, Buddy Breakfast, Bingo Night, Topsy Turvy Night, 5th grade continuation, Lenski Auction committee and many years as a Room Parent! For the past 3 years I have coordinated Love from Lenski. This special event takes place the week of Valentine's Day. The students create valentines for local hospitals and senior living facilities that we deliver to the residents in an effort to bring a little joy to their Valentine's Day. Last year over 800 cards were created by the students and I had the amazing opportunity to deliver many of them personally to the residents at Someren Glen just across Arapahoe Road. The smiles on the faces of the residents were priceless and it was a very rewarding experience for me personally. We feel so fortunate to be a part of this exceptional school community and welcome every opportunity to give back to it!
