Thanking Our Troops Campaign
Thank You Letter & Shout Out from Afghanistan
|
Lois Lenski students and friends, your donations to Lenski's Thanking Our Troops campaign really made a difference! Here is a letter and video shout-out from Second Lieutenant Stephen Schutte:
To the teachers and students of Lenski Elementary school,
My name is Stephen Schutte and I am a Tank Platoon leader (I'm in charge of 20 guys who use tanks). While talking on the phone one day my mother asked me if we were in need of Christmas care packages. When I asked why she had told me that your school was interested in sending holiday car packages for my soldiers. I couldn't say no since the holidays can be hard for us when we are overseas and miss home already.
It wasn't until last week when we came back from a long day to find boxes stacked high full of much needed food and hygiene products as well as holiday cheer and thank you letters from you. It did more than I could possibly imagine to boost the morale of the guys who are working hard to keep this area in Afghanistan safe. We look forward to coming home and each of my soldiers has asked that I send a thank you on their behalf for your selfless contributions and helping the soldiers of 2nd Platoon, Delta Company, 1-8 Cavalry.
With sincere gratitude,
Stephen Schutte
