Lenski Wednesday Announcements for 10/9/13

The October 2 Newsletter is now available. This issue contains information about the Fall Festival parties, Veteran's Day Assembly, Music Performance dates, and much more. The Events Calendar is also available for October, detailing events and activities for the month.

Lenski's Fall Food Drive

October 1-31, 2013

October is here and Lenski's Fall Food Drive is in full swing, and we need your help to make this year's drive a success. The Food Drive directly helps students in the LPS community by providing weekend meal assistance to those for whom food at home may be scarce. We hope you will consider donating nonperishable foods this month - there are donation boxes outside of every classroom.

Just a few reminders:

No glass jars
No expired food items - check those dates!
No enormous packages - food should be of a size that can easily be transported by the student (i.e., fit into a backpack)
Food that is appealing to kids and can be easily prepared

KidPower is coming to LPS!

October 15 & 22

Since 1994, Kidpower of Colorado, a nonprofit agency, has been teaching children
and the adults who care for them the skills and self-confidence that they need to stay safe and respond constructively to threatening circumstances. Parents and their age-appropriate children must attend both sessions, on October 15 & 22, from 6-8 p.m. Click on the registration form for more pertinent detail and information about this program.

Volunteer Positions now on the Web!

lunteer positions can now be found on the Lenski website, on the right-hand side beneath the Google calendar. Here you can view current positions available, as well as checking on what you may have already signed up for. Other useful information is also accessible on the website, such as the lunch menus, a current day-to-day calendar, teacher pages, and much more. Be sure to stay abreast by reviewing this site often!

The Littleton Stride

October 27, 2013

The Stride countdown continues! The Littleton Stride is Sunday, October 27th. Please look for paper registrations coming home in your child's backpack today! You may also register online until 10/25, or in person at Run Colorado or Boulder Running Company. Two lucky registrants will win a $25 gift card to Target, so register today!! Please remember that registrations on race day do NOT count towards our participation prize!

***LET'S PAY IT FORWARD!!! In the spirit of community, we would like to show our support for students outside of Lenski who may not have sufficient funds to participate in The Stride. Please consider having your child bring a $1 donation towards funding other students for The Stride! They can drop off their donation at running club on Monday!

Box Tops Reminder

You can help Lois Lenski Elementary earn money by participating

in the Box Tops for Education program. ALL of the money from

the box tops we collect goes directly to our school. Click here to

Street Smarts at The Streets at SouthGlenn

Lenski is in FOURTH place, keep turning in receipts and earning points!!!

Spooky Streets, Friday October 25, 4:30-7:30pm. - Pick up your Trick of Treat bag from Guest Services at Streets at SouthGlenn and sign in to earn 1,000 points per person attending! The Streets will be decorated and you can visit the Munster's at the Munster Mash!
