Don't forget about Lenski Annual Giving. This is our largest fundraiser of the year. We are suggesting $175 per student from each family. 100% of the funds pay the salaries of our specialist teachers in reading and math. As a nonprofit, we also qualify for corporate matching so if you or your spouse's company offers corporate match be sure to look into it.
If you have any questions contact the campaign chair, Heidi Elliott, at heidi@beanstalk-marketing.com. Our goal is to reach $80,000 by October 1. Donate now! |

Volunteers Needed for Lunch on the Lawn |
If you would like to enjoy a nice hour outside in the fresh air, please visit this link to sign up to work as a crossguard for Lunch on the Lawn. This program cannot work without you! |
Library Volunteers needed! |
We are in need of a few additional library volunteers. These volunteers help check out and check in materials, shelve books and assist the library staff with special projects. Lenski's dedicated library volunteers allow our great staff to spend more time working with the students. Shifts are either from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or from 1:00-3:30 p.m., and most shifts would be twice a month.
If you are interested, please contact Lisanna Parkhurst at lisannafp@gmail.com or 303-395-0273. Thank you! |
Volunteer as a Room Parent! |
Being a homeroom parent is a fun and rewarding way to be involved in your child's classroom! We are in need of homeroom parents to act as a liaison between the teachers and the parents throughout the school year, and to organize and assist with classroom parties (only the Fall Festival party this year). If you would like to be a homeroom parent for the 2013-2014 School Year, please sign up here by Tuesday, September 10th.

LPS Foundation gifts Lenski $1,700 |
Lenski Elementary would like to give a special thank you to the LPS Foundation for it's generous gift of $1,700. We are using this money to help fund the DreamBox and IXL computer math software programs for our students. Lenski students will benefit from these two math programs available online.
For our primary students, we will continue to provide DreamBox. DreamBox, an adaptive on-line program, helps children learn math concepts through a game atmosphere. Studies have shown that children that use this program, on average, increase five percentile points in 16 weeks. This program adapts to each child's response, increasing or decreasing the difficulty as needed.
All students will have access to IXL - a practice environment that rewards hard work. This program gives students the opportunity to learn from their errors, master specific skills, and build confidence. |
Board of Education candidate forums
September 17 & October 1, 2013 |
The Board of Education candidate forums are scheduled for September 17 and October 1, 2013. These candidate forums provide an opportunity for community members to learn about and ask questions of the five candidates running for election this November for three at-large positions on the LPS school board. All community members are invited to attend.
For more information and/or to find out which candidates are running, please click here. |
Street Smarts at The Streets at SouthGlenn |
This is a program to help Lenski earn money doing what you are already doing! Streetsmarts is a competition between 20 schools in the area, and Lenski earns 5 points for every dollar you spend and turn in. Shop, eat, enjoy any store/restaurant/theater at The Streets at SouthGlenn (including WholeFoods, 24 Hour Fitness (dues!), Best Buy, etc.) and make sure to get a receipt.
Turn receipts in to Lenski one of four ways:
1- Save the receipts and put them in your child's school folder in an envelope marked The Streets at SouthGlenn
2- Drop it in The Streets at SouthGlenn box in the school lobby
3- Drop the receipt in the Lenski slot in the SouthGlenn guest services lobby (between Bar Louie and the parking garage)
4- if you have a receipt you need to keep (new appliance, tires, etc) speak to guest services and they will log your receipt.
Lenski has placed in the top 10 the past two years and this year we can do even better!
Another way to earn 1,000 points and find out what is new at The Streets at SouthGlenn - sign up to receive their e-mail. Simply go to www.shoppingpartnership.com and select The Streets at SouthGlenn under shopping centers to register. You will receive The Streets at SouthGlenn news, points alerts, and special offers.
September Bonus Points - Lenski will earn 15 points per dollar spent for receipts logged in September at the following stores: 720 Board Shop, Café Rio, Chick-Fil-A, Dairy Queen, Floyd's 99 Barbershop, H&M, LOFT, Maggie Moo's, Old Navy, Pearle Vision, and Salon AKA. |
