We are investigating the creation of a Robotics Club for next year and would like to gain an idea of the interest level among students and parents. We are considering options possibly to start in the fall, depending on the number/ages of interested students:
1. Mindstorms robotics competition team (First Lego League) promoted by Lego, which is only available for 4th and 5th graders. This option is parent-run.
2. Enrichment class(es) before or after school, focused on engineering principles and/or robotics using Legos. May use motors, sensors and/or computers for robotics programming. This would be targeted at grades 1-5, with classes targeted at different grade ranges dependent on interest level. This option would include an instructor coming to Lenski to teach the program.
Both options will have a cost involved and may be the same or more expensive than other enrichment classes.
If your child would be interested in either or both of these options, please send your feedback and ideas to Heidi Elliott at heidi@beanstalk-marketing.com and include your child's grade level for the 2013-14 school year. We are also looking for a few other parents who might be interested to help coordinate. |
