HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING BREAK!
Here's some Thanksgiving humor, HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING BREAK.
November is the month where we give thanks as Thanksgiving is slowly approaching. Keep in mind people who are less fortunate than you and if you can, give back to the community or to people you know can use some extra help.

Donate to UPC and BSA's canned food drive for the Thanksgiving holidays. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go to families in need. The drop box will be in Lane University Center until November 18th.

With all this being said, keep in mind academics and opportunities for next semester such as an internship with the Department of Student and Community Involvement. Here are just a few to consider:
  • CES offers Spring internships for Music Management; Event Management; Marketing and Business; Video and Photography. All CES internships will be filled before the end of Fall, we do not routinely take last minute internship requests.  All internships with CES will be filled though an interview process. Please contact Mary Jane Plummer, Director, CES at mplummer@frostburg.edu or 301.687.7495 for further details on openings.
  • Marketing and Design offers Spring internships for Social Marketing Team in the following areas: Art and Design majors with a focus in photography or graphic design; Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing or Management; Mass Communications with a focus on news writing or video; and English majors with a focus on journalistic writing. All internships will be filled before the end of Fall. Apply here.

If you or anyone else has been affected by the recent events that took place in Paris

Given the latest terrorist attack over the weekend and given we have many students on campus from countries with terrorist activities, the student worship planning team has decided to change the FSU Annual Thanksgiving Service slightly to bring a focus to it for prayers for Paris and all those who have been effected around the world by terrorism.
We invite all who want to lift a voice of support or concern to come to help shape our prayers.

The On the EDGE series at Frostburg State University will present rapper, def-poet and spoken-word artist OVEOUS on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8:15 p.m. in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall in FSU's Lane University Center.

OVEOUS fuses brilliant lyricism with a powerful performance. Shortly after his first appearance in 2003 at the famed Nuyorican Poets Café in New York City, the artist landed a lead role in the film "SP!T" narrated by actress and writer Rosario Dawson, became a multiple champ of "Showtime at the Apollo," received standing ovations on HBO's original series "Def Poetry Jam" and became a three-time
National Poetry Slam finalist.

On the EDGE is an exciting new underground club series presented as a collaboration between Student Activities and CES. On The EDGE features cutting edge performers who stretch the boundaries of their art forms. Patrons will enjoy informal table seating, comfortable couch and armchair seating. Light snacks and a beer and wine bar are also offered. Stay after the show for a chance to interact with the artist in a relaxed setting in the AfterRoom. Tickets for On the EDGE performances are $3 for FSU students and $15 for general public and can be purchased in the LUC Box Office; by calling 301.687.3137; or online at ces.frostburg.edu.

Straight Outta Compton
Friday, November 20
8 PM
Lane Center Atkinson Room
Free and open to the public

Join UPC as they show one of the most popular movies this year, Straight Outta Compton. Entrenched in the racial tumult of Los Angeles in the mid-1980's, a group of aspiring rappers banded together to revolutionize the global consumption of hip-hop and popular culture. NWA was born out of racial frustration and the disadvantaged economics of their South Central neighborhood. F. Gary Gray directs this biopic about the rise to stardom for the act that earned the moniker of "The World's Most Dangerous Group", featuring Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson Jr. playing the role of his father, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, and Jason Mitchell as the late.
TAMPS

CES at FSU will present the Canadian Trio De Temps Antan in a LIVE! at StarScape club performance on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall in FSU's Lane University Center.

The youthful Québecois trio includes the blazing fiddle of André Brunet, the brash accordion playing of Pierre-Luc Dupuis and the pristine voice and exquisite guitar of Éric Beaudry. Their high-voltage performances have been seen by audiences across the world. Together they exhibit boundless joie-de-vivre onstage with a sound anchored by the "tac-tic-a tac" of "les pieds," a form of seated clogging found in French Canada.

The performance will be followed by a free meet-the-artist interactive session as part of the Offstage Series with WFWM.
Tickets are ONLY $5 for FSU STUDENTS and $20 for adults and $17 for FSU staff and youth.

Stevens' music defies easy categorization, drawing upon elements of pop, jazz and folk without limiting itself to the rules of any particular genre.
