Omega, Keith Smith signs with German football team
Omega Psi Phi fraternity member and football standout Keith Smith has signed to play football in Germany with the Elmshorn Fighting Pirates. Smith will leave for Germany on March 16, but will finish his studies online in preparation for his graduation in December. Congrats, Keith!

" I'm excited to embark on this journey of being able to continue playing the sport I love professionally. Going to a different country has always been on my bucket list, so traveling and living in a different part of the world is one of the things I am most excited for.  After submitting a personal profile on my collegiate highlights, I was selected to play in the international league with other division one and two school collegiate players.  This will help me improve my skills and afford me the opportunity to play other international professional players and US collegians. Coming from the United States the team is looking for me to make an impact as the safety of the defense and being a key playmaker.  These next 6 months I hope to gain experience and to develop my playing ability along with enjoying the opportunity as a whole. For now I'm going to take it one day at a time, and continue getting better so that I may be blessed with the opportunity to continue playing football professionally. I thank my Old Mill High school coaching staff along with the Frostburg State University coaching staff from my freshman year to this past fall for helping me develop as a player, teammate, and leader along with installing wisdom in me over the years. Thank my teammates that I have played with over the years and wish the program much success in the upcoming years keep the tradition going out work everyone and success will follow. I thank my family for supporting me the last 14 years I have been playing football spending money on cleats an driving 3-5 hours to watch me play in unpredictable weather. I thank my Fraternity Brothers of the Beta Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated for supporting me and teaching me that "When you're up against a trouble, meet it squarely, face to face; Lift your chin and set your shoulders, plant your feet and take a brace. When it's vain to try to dodge it, Do the best that you can do; You may fail, but you may conquer, See it through!" That is something I take with me every day that no dream is out of reach, no obstacle is too big, and if you want it no matter what you can see it through to get it. So, as the homecoming king, I hope this year I left behind a great legacy and set an example for my fellow peers, along with wisdom to use these years in college to find that dream you want and to go accomplish it.
