New York City Trip
Thoughts of a Colored Man on a day when the sun set too early
Written and directed by FSU alum
Keenan M. Scott II
February 28
Depart at 5AM Saturday, Return 1AM Sunday
Purchase tickets at the LUC Box Office * $20

This is a wonderful opportunity to witness first-hand the accomplishments of recent FSU grad Keenan Scott. He had dreams and goals that he has actively and aggressively pursued.  Moving from FSU's Performance Arts Center to Howard State University to local Washington D.C. community theater to touring colleges in New York State to a theater in New York City.

Join us, as we follow eight young men on their journey to find their identity. Explore the unfiltered perspective of love, anger and much more during a time when young black men were too often criminalized in the media. Thoughts of a Colored Man aims to unilaterally express the varying emotions of young black men, connect with all audiences and to leave you to question your entire existence.

Director & Writer, Keenan M. Scott II hails from Flushing, Queens, NY. At an early age, Scott moved to Southern Maryland, a far way from the culture and eccentricities of the Big Apple. At age fifteen, Keenan started on the underground poetry scene in Washington, DC., which led him to follow his passion of performing and writing. He went on to graduate from Frostburg State University where he studied Theatre with a concentration in Acting.  With the use of poetry and prose style monologues, with major influences from the birth and evolution of Hip-Hop, Scott brings an amalgamation of his experiences as a young black man, both from the city and the suburbs, to create a new voice in the 21st century as portrayed in Thoughts of a COLORED MAN on a day when the sun set too early.

Plunge for a
great cause
Ten years ago, Dr. Sean McCagh had the idea to raise money for a local cause that required brave souls plunging into the frigid March waters of Lake Habeeb at Rocky Gap State Park. That year, 30 plungers took the challenge. Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, more than 800 plungers are expected to take part in The Hooley Plunge on Saturday, March 1 to raise needed funds for the Special Olympics of Allegany County and several other local programs for the developmentally disabled. The event is coordinated by the Alhambra Wamba Caravan #89. Download this fundraiser form.
