Enjoy an up-close-and-personal performance with one of America's classic rock bands. FireFall faithfully recreates the hits that brought them to the top of the charts, while new material demonstrates the band's diversity and exuberant musicianship. With beautifully layered harmonies backed by driving rhythms, FireFall transcends multiple genres from rock to alt-country to folk.

Founded in 1974, FireFall soon cemented its place in the American musical landscape with a wealth of platinum and gold radio hits such as "You Are the Woman," "Just Remember I Love You" and "Strange Ways." Their distinctive fusion of musical genres produces a timeless sound that continues to grace the airwaves 40 years later.

"I think it's great that in this day and age of trends that change overnight, a kind of music that we helped to create is still around, and growing in popularity." - Jock Bartley, FireFall founding member

Need to reserve a room or a table for your student organization?

Here are some helpful tips and tricks to get you started!

First and foremost, all reservations (rooms and tables) could and should be submitted virtually through the online reservation system. If your student organization or leadership team are not familiar with the online reservation process, please contact Angel Flowers to setup a training session. Keep in mind that there are deadlines to submit reservation requests virtually. The Lane University Center requires all online requests be submitted 10+ days in advance and academic space requests should be submitted 5+ days in advance. The farther in advance you plan, the more likely you are to get your first-choice space! Should you need a space beyond that time frame here are the people to contact:

To reserve a room/space in:

  • Compton Science Center or CCIT, please contact Linda Steele, Program Specialist in Compton 241 or call 301- 687-4137
  • Computer Lab in the CCIT, please contact Anita McGregor in CCIT  120A or call 301-687-7079
  • Cordts PE Center, please contact Rubin Stevenson at 301-687-4086
  • Performing Arts Center, please contact Conrad Maust at  301-687-3037
  • Lane University Center, Lyric Theatre, and other academic spaces not listed, please contact the LUC Reservations Office in the Lane University Center 215 at 301-687-4048

Last, but not least - please remember that anything submitted online is a REQUEST.  Until you receive a confirmation email from one of your administrators above, do not assume that a room is officially booked.

For more information, please contact Angel Flowers

For more information about the Lane University Center, contact Rob Webber, Director at 301.687.7084.

Writer/Comedian Bruce Vilanch
to Hold Open Q&A Session
Thursday, October 16* 4-5:30 PM

Writer, comedian and actor Bruce Vilanch, who has written jokes for other comedians including Lily Tomlin, Robin Williams, Rosie O'Donnell and Joan Rivers, will present an open question-and-answer session. Vilanch's past college appearances have covered topics ranging from writing, show business, defining self, sexuality, weight and relationships with parents. The event is free and open to the public. Vilanch will also be available to greet fans following the session.

Vilanch will be passing through Frostburg on his way to Washington, D.C., to write for the upcoming Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for Humor ceremony. He is possibly most familiar as a panelist and head writer on the revived version of the game show, "Hollywood Squares," one of several collaborations with the show's executive producer, Whoopi Goldberg. He writes for every major awards show - the Oscars, the Emmys, the Grammys and the Tonys - and he has won six Emmys himself.

His wide-ranging career also includes writing for shows such as the "Donny and Marie Show" and acting in "Mahogany" in the 1970s, collaborations with singer-actress-comedian Bette Midler in the 1980s and '90s and stand-up work throughout. He is the subject of the 1999 documentary, "Get Bruce," and starred in the one-man Off-Broadway show, "Bruce Vilanch: Almost Famous" in 2000. Vilanch also regularly donates his time and expertise to various benefit events, especially those focusing on GLBT issues.

Vilanch's booking manager is Frostburg alumnus Matt Byars. Byars, who left FSU in 2009 just a few credits short of a degree, spent the last five years building his business and reputation in the entertainment business. He decided last year to earn the last few credits and became an FSU graduate in 2013. Vilanch is waiving his appearance fee in recognition of Byars' FSU connection.

This event is hosted by the FSU Departments of Theater & Dance and English. For more information, contact Nicole Mattis at 301-687-3212.
