Beat the winter blues by getting involved! Attend a new event, step outside your comfort zone and meet new people. Joining an organization can help you explore new careers, learn new skills and expand your personal network.
But let's be honest, being involved is fun and helps you connect with your peers on campus. We'd love to hear how you are staying involved - follow and tweet us @thesocialbobcat.
Here are a few of this week's highlights:
Have an amazing semester!

[A Stubborn Memory]
Slovenia
Lane University Center 111
Directed and co-written by Tomaz Burlin
Introduced by Dr. Nicole Dombrowski Risser, Associate Professor of History and Dr. Valerie Thaler, Assistant Professor of Family Studies & Community Development,
Towson University
Much like Haytarma (the first film of this series), A Stubborn Memory functions as a manifestation of the politics of memory; it strives to remind us of horrific events that are not part of common world history and/or are in danger of being forgotten. A Stubborn Memory spotlights Boris Pahor, the most internationally honored Slovenian writer - and the only Slovene to be nominated for the Nobel Prize - as a means to explore Fascism, genocide, the importance of confronting the past, and national identity. Theatre & Dance
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Directed by Mairzy Yost-Rushton.
March 6-8 * 7:30 PM Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre
Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and Becky Thatcher experience the thrill of dangerous adventure, the heart flutters of first love, and the bonds of friendship as they make mischief on the town, confront a deadly outlaw, discover buried treasure, and face dilemmas of right and wrong-all along the glorious Mississippi River. Headlined by the New York Times as "homage to childhood," Laura Eason's adaptation comes with the homespun character of Twain's remarkable classic, reminding us that we don't need electronic devices to have a ripping good time. For general public reservations and information, call the Theatre and Dance box office at 301.687.7462 (Monday through Friday, 9-12:30 pm and 1:30 - 4 pm). FSU students can purchase tickets in advance from Performing Arts Center 302. Tickets are $6 students and $12 general public. Group ticket sales are available when booked in advance. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York. |
