Greetings!
Hello Bobcats! There are only 19 days of school left which means summer is right around the corner! However, before you break out your bathing suit and flip flops, remember there's still tons of exciting events happening on- and off- campus.
On Monday and Tuesday, the talented Dr. Derrick Jenkins will be here to discuss the negativity surrounding Hip Hop and certain stereotypes the musical genre represents. Also on Tuesday, Chaplain Cindy Zirlott will be continuing her 365 Love Seminar.
On Wednesday, Chaplain Zirlott will be hosting a Spiritual Study Break session. Then Thursday, she will be hosting her last 365 Love Seminar brown bagged lunch.
Also on Saturday, the Student Government Association will be hosting their annual SGA Showdown. And the moment we've all been waiting for, SpringFest, is finally here! Meet in the Upper Quad for food, giveaways, rock climbing, inflatables, creation stations and much more!
Have an amazing week and good luck!

Popular Culture and
Concepts of Black Masculinity
Monday, April 29 7:00-8:30 PM
Lane University Center Manicur Assembly Hall
Greek Life presents Dr. Derrick Jenkins and his discussion about how Hip Hop has influenced the idea of what black masculinity really is. Although Hip Hop produces popular songs with catchy lyrics, the musical genre has also shed a negative light on what being a black male is all about. Dr. Jenkins is here to inform students about how they can help beat the stereotype and stop racial profiling in its tracks.

Bust it Open: Hip Hop Dumbs Down
that Four Letter Word
Tuesday, April 30 7:00-9:00 PM
Lane University Center Room 111
On Tuesday, Dr. Derrick Jenkins will be conducting another workshop about how Hip Hop influences our love lives and how the media dictates what is "love". Far too often people look to famous actors, muscial artists, and athletes for relationship advice. However, what most people don't realize is that love is different and unique for each and every person. Don't let the media tell you who or how to love.
