Drama Theatre, Performing Arts Center

The beloved Los Angeles dance company, Lula Washington Dance Theatre, arrives for an evening of commanding, energetic and athletic performances. Lula Washington, who created choreography and movement for the Hollywood films "Avatar" and "The Little Mermaid," is a true original in the dance world. Her risk-taking endeavors draw attention to multiple social issues-from the plight of women to the extraordinary courage of U.S. soldiers. New York Times dance critic Jennifer Dunning states thst "Washington is an orginal, in part because of the concern for social issues that informs some of her dances and the gentle but persistent way she addresses those issues."
