EL VIAJE HACIA EL MAR Trailer
International Film: Journey
to the Sea
Tuesday, February 12~ 7:00-10:00 PM
Lane University Center Room 111

El Viaje Hacia el Mar is a quiet road movie based on a short story by Juan Jos
e´Morosoli (1899-1957) an important literary figure in Uruguay. It is a charming, witty and gentle comedy of manners that can be viewed as a leisurely variation of Maryland's "going down the ocean" tradition. On a Sunday morning in 1963, six men and a dog travel from the small, interior town of Minas to the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the men have never left their insular community so this outing becomes the trip of a lifetime. Driving through the rolling landscape of Uruguay, the men talk, drink, sing and share their lives and philosophies.
