Donations needed for Concert in the Park
Join us for some great summer music at the Portage Concert in the Park Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, July 2. Bring your lawn chair to Pauquette Park (corner of Hwy 33 and Pierce Street) and listen to the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Enjoy a cold treat of Culver's Custard and Pepsi products during the performance. Stay for the terrific fireworks show over the Wisconsin River!! Reserve a table for you and your guests and be close to the music.

Divine Savior Healthcare Run/Walk & Kite Fly
Held in conjunction with Canal Days, Divine Savior Healthcare is hosting a Run/Walk in support of the Portage Area Trails Heritage System (PATHS) on Saturday, June 11. All profits from the race will go directly to the project to create a walkable and bikeable community. Click here for info. 
The 2016 Canal Days Kite Fly will take place at the Divine Savior Healthcare Portage Campus from 10am to 4pm. Giant show kites, precision stunt kites, spectacular ground displays, treat drop, kite making and flying lessons provided by the Wisconsin Kiters Club. Participate in the family fun flying or bring a blanket and chair and enjoy the show! (All activities will depend on wind conditions.)
Canal Days 2016
A grand summer tradition is back! Canal Days is scheduled for June 10-12 and will feature historical re-enactment encampments, parade, live music, kids activities and more. For a schedule of events, click here.

 Fort Winnebago Surgeons Quarters hiring docents Calling all individuals and educators who enjoy history and need a summer job! Fort Winnebago Surgeons Quarters is seeking docents for immediate openings. Some qualifications include: communicating to travelers; ability to work cooperatively; event, programs and private party management; daily upkeep of the grounds and buildings; be dependable and hard working; and have an educational or tourist background.

There is no cost to list items that may fall outside of, but could also include, the realm of the usual type of products and services offered by a member. Goodwill Hiring Fair
Do you want to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities or other challenges?
Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin offers a variety of positions that support its mission of strengthening our community by providing supportive housing, employment and other assistance to local residents with disabilities or other challenges. During a special hiring fair, staff will be interviewing persons interested in a position with Goodwill, including store associate and store management positions available in Portage. The fair will take place from 11am to 3pm on Thursday, June 2, at the Goodwill Store located at 2902 American Legion Drive, in Portage.
Persons interested in learning about available career opportunities can visit www.goodwillscwi.org or call 608-246-3140. Goodwill encourages persons to check often because its staffing needs change frequently. All positions play an important role in support of Goodwill's mission. To guarantee an interview during the June 2 hiring fair, individuals should register in advance by calling 608-246-3140, ext. 175. Walk-in interviews will be conducted on a first-come-first-served basis. Interested persons can apply online or pick up an application at the home office or any Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin store or donation center.  Historic Downtown Walking Tours 2016 Local historian Judy Eulberg will once again be leading historic guided downtown walking tours this summer.
The informative one-hour tours are free to the public and leave from the Portage Chamber office at 104 W. Cook St. at 10am on the following Saturdays:

Free Summer Meals & Summer Library Program Registration for the Summer Library Program begins Thursday, June 2. The program runs from June 2 through June 26. Summer meals will be served Monday through Thursday from June 6 through August 11 (no meals July 4) at Goodyear Park from 11:15am to 11:50am and at the Portage Public Library from 12:05pm to 12:40pm (optional hands-on activity begins at 12:20pm). The lunch must be eaten on site and no application or proof of income is needed.
Contact the UW-Extension at 608-742-9680 for more information. Meal program partners include City of Portage, Portage Public Library, Portage Presbyterian Church, UW-Extension and funded in part by Portage Area United Way.

Art That Blooms!
