Chamber Business Profile -The Artisan Foodie
Not being able to travel as much as she would like left her unable to purchase some of the unique food items that she has tasted and loved. Why shouldn't someone locally be able to enjoy something that is unique to other regional areas of our country, she thought. So, with a belief in local, sustainable, and always delicious food, owner Mila Stahl officially opened The Artisan Foodie inside The Mercantile on April 25 this year. The location is your local curated marketplace for artisanal foods as she strives to bring together a community of people who care deeply about where and how their food is made.
"I love meeting people and learning about them," says Stahl. "Small-batch artisan food producers are artists and people who love to cook are also artists. Some of us are very creative when it comes to food and creating a delicious meal and I want to help inspire people to be more creative. I also believe that by supporting these small-batch artisan food producers that we, the consumer, really help support many local economies."
Stahl describes her typical clients as those who purchase the food for either themselves or another foodie. "I can help create unique gift boxes tailored to the occasion," Stahl explains. "I have had customers ask me to help select anniversary box items to a second wedding gift box."
She hopes that people will think that the food items she carries as unique, wholesome, earthy and delicious. But above all, she wants them to realize that they, the consumer, are supporting home-grown industries in our country. In fact, one of her vendors, from Montana, employs 12 people and that equals 10% of their town's population.
New business keeps her business evolving. Her goal for the shop is to have an on-line e-commerce website. She anticipates the process to be completed and live by July 15. Stahl is currently working with a developer who has been extremely busy loading in all the products. The Artisan Foodie carries more than 200 different items from around the country and the website will tell the producers' stories.
For more information, please call the Artisan Foodie, 117 W. Cook St., at 608-577-7110 or visit https://www.facebook.com/artisanalfood online.

Magnum adds stations
Magnum Communications recently agreed to purchase Milwaukee market radio stations WRJN-AM and WEZY-FM in Racine and WBKV-AM and WBWI-FM in West Bend from Bliss Communications, Inc.
The transfer of the radio stations must be approved by the Federal Communications Commission before the sale can be finalized. The approval process usually takes 60 to 120 days. Bliss Communications will continue to operate the stations until approval is obtained.
"With this acquisition, my co-workers and I will program radio signals connecting from Milwaukee to La Crosse," said Dave Magnum, President of Magnum Communications, Inc. "When my late wife, Lynn, and I started from scratch 23 years ago, we wanted to grow across Wisconsin. I'm blessed to work with so many talented and loyal individuals, many of whom have been on board since the early 90's."
When this four station expansion is completed, Magnum will be licensed to operate 16 radio stations, one Class A TV station and two LPTV stations, all in Wisconsin.

Five qualities to look for in Home Care Service
Families looking for quality care find themselves faced with a lack of clinical quality standards within the private duty in-home care sector. Here are some key qualities that families should look for in any home care agency they may be considering:
- Availability. Operates on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week basis as many home care providers only operate during "regular business hours."
- Registered Nurse oversight. Provides a comprehensive health and wellness evaluation conducted by a Registered Nurse with the expertise to craft a personalized plan of care around a loved one's unique interests, personal, and healthcare needs.
- Trusted. Employs and oversees experienced, screened, compassionate, and trained nurses and caregivers.
- Core Values. Stands by its core values and ensures that the client will get the care they need and deserve.
- Accreditation. Committed to care standards that are validated through a major third-party healthcare standards accrediting body, like The Joint Commission.
