BITS AND PIECES
JUNE 22-23, 2013
"Super Moons"
appear larger because they are physically closer. And when they're combined with a full moon, the mind can play tricks on you to think they are much larger. This phenomenon is called the Moon Illusion.

The Choices We Make
Napa Valley CanDo seeks
to inspire and facilitate action
by alerting interested Valley residents about opportunities for service. If you participate as a volunteer in an activity that you learned about through Napa Valley CanDo, whether initiated by CanDo or another organization, please take personal responsibility for your involvement. Use common sense. Only you can determine whether the activity is a good fit, that is to say compatible with your interests and abilities.

- Fiscal sponsorship with the generous support of the Napa Valley Coalition of Nonprofit Agencies;
- A spiffy new "sister" logo;
- A commitment to a website that will appear in both English and Spanish.
These are just three landmarks in the past two weeks for CanDo's Napa Valley Give!Guide. The past year and a half, CanDo has been exploring an exciting new way to support area nonprofits. That's a big part of our mission, after all.
Last month, volunteers from our hard-working, fun-loving Give!Guide team introduced the Napa Valley Give!Guide concept to reps from nearly 80 local nonprofit agencies.
You can learn more about the project by taking a look at the PowerPoint presentation we prepared for the nonprofits. Some of the information is directed specifically to them, of course. But you'll get a good feel for the scope of this amazing venture designed to inspire a community of givers.
In five months, everyone in the Napa Valley will know. But you can know now! If you'd like to be invited to the first public Give!Guide presentation later this summer, email us. Just write "I'm a Giver" in the subject line.
Better yet, consider playing a part in this extraordinary local project that creates a portal to the possible for many nonprofits. There are dozens of tasks, large and small, that will bring the Give!Guide to fruition. To learn more, email us or call 707.252.7743.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world;
indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
