Scottsdale Leadership's Core Program provides the knowledge, connections, skills, and confidence for participants to take on leadership roles in the community. Each year, up to 45 diverse individuals are selected through a competitive process to participate in the nine-month award-winning, interactive program.

 

Highlights of participation include: access to community decision-makers; opportunities to discuss current community issues; leadership development programming and opportunities; behind-the-scenes tours of community facilities; and connecting with the Scottsdale Leadership alumni "brain trust" of 966 from 28 previous classes.

This inaugural awards showcase recognizes exemplary community service that reflects Scottsdale citizens' needs, wishes and dreams. Class 28 has taken on that challenge through five innovative Lead it Forward (formerly "Pay it Forward") service projects. Celebrate the winning group, selected just hours earlier by a panel of distinguished judges.

  • Help choose the winner of the evening's second and final honor:  the Audience Choice Award

CLASS 28 LEAD IT FORWARD PROJECTS

Victorious Volunteers: Caring to the Corps
Providing a detailed volunteer recruitment and marketing strategy for Foothills Caring Corps, which provides in-home and transportation services to older adults in Scottsdale and the North Valley who are homebound or disabled.
 
Project CANdo! 

Raising awareness of hunger challenges facing the Scottsdale community. During Spring Training games at Salt River Fields March 14-16, donations of canned food items create a canned food pyramid for display.  All donations benefit the Vista del Camino food bank.

 

Amplif(i) It Bash

This inaugural event invited 150 valley kids to enjoy a free evening of fun activities, including zipline, foam pit, raffle, dance and music to celebrate the positive life choices of our youth. Partners include notMYkid, Scottsdale Gymnastics & Trampoline (SGT) and Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Teen Center.


Digital Literacy Program

Providing Title 1 Tavan Elementary teachers and students with devices, knowledge, resources, business partners and support to become digitally literate, because today's K-12 students need digital skills to succeed and become our next generation of leaders. 

 

Quest for College

Providing Paiute Neighborhood Center students bilingual guidelines to navigate selecting and applying for college. Electronic files have been developed outlining reasons, processes, and resources to successfully guide students from eighth grade through senior year and onto college.
