CAN YOU HELP?
|
Calling all alumni! Here are some recent Scottsdale Leadership needs:
- Postage for the Annual Luncheon mailing of about 1,000 (metered or otherwise). A previously confirmed postage sponsor fell through.
- Volunteers to phone alumni to request missing contact data. Important and a great way to re-connect!
- An estate attorney to finalize bequests and planned gifts to Scottsdale Leadership.

ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS
|
Linda Walton, Class 26
resigned from the City of Scottsdale on September 18 in order to devote time to completing a doctoral degree in Performance Psychology and a book for young women, ages 16-21. The book will be the foundation for a nonprofit organization she is establishing to serve young women.
Scott Palmer, Class 25
Portland Cement Association (PCA) recognized Scott Palmer as a finalist for the 2013 John P. Gleason Jr., Leadership Award. The awards honor employees of member companies who have exhibited industry leadership by taking the Association in new directions. Palmer, manager of market development for Salt River Materials Group, Scottsdale, Ariz., has been a tireless champion for concrete wall systems for single-family homes. Most recently, he has spearheaded work with Meritage Homes to value-engineer the HercuWall system. As a result, for the first time ever a major national homebuilder is offering a concrete wall system for the same price as wood.

COMMUNITY EVENTS & NEWS
|

Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee (SBHC) is seeking volunteers to help with a familiarization trip for the NFL and its partners. The trip will allow NFL personnel and constituents to learn about the community. Attendees will tour venues across the Valley and participate in briefings and social gatherings. For many, the trip will be their first introduction to Arizona and will plant the seeds for a lasting economic impact.
SBHC seeks 60 energetic professionals to be Volunteer Ambassadors Monday, November 11-Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Ambassadors will serve as tour guide for assigned attendees, transporting guests to/from their hotel, events, and venues, while making their experience informative and enjoyable. Ambassadors need to be passionate and enthusiastic about our community, and have a broad knowledge of the Valley. If interested, please contact Mackenzie Fitz-Gerald at mfitzgerald@azsuperbowl.com to obtain a volunteer ambassador application form.
Community service is a core value for Allegra Scottsdale; that's why they've established FootSTEPS Grant Program. Annually, they award $15,000 in marketing services and products to Arizona nonprofits. The grants are designed to help non-profits expand their mission, improve their marketing communications and increase their impact in the community. Applications will be accepted through October 31. Click here to find out more and to apply.
