PRINCIPLES FOR CIVIL DIALOGUE |
Scottsdale Leadership initiative adopted by City of Scottsdale! Once again Scottsdale Leadership alumni have impacted the community, this time through a first-of-its-kind initiative, The Principles for Civil Dialogue. On July 1, 2013, the Scottsdale City Council adopted Resolution 9445 (item 32), encouraging civil dialogue in the City. Further, the Council chose to adopt Resolution 9433 (item 31), The Council Rules of Procedures, which includes the Principles for Civil Dialogue in its language.
Passing such a resolution through the city council was one of the Scottsdale Leadership's Principles for Civil Dialogue committee's goals when it began its work in May 2011. Thank you to the tireless SLI volunteers who made a difference in the community and well beyond. To date, more than 20 civic, business and local organizations have adopted or endorsed the Principles for Civil Dialogue.
In the words of Margaret Mead, "Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have."
