If you follow
social media, you've probably seen the funny meme that is going around proclaiming that Fall officially starts when you can order pumpkin flavored beverages from your favorite coffee hangout. We don't disagree (who doesn't like pumpkin flavored goodies?) but for us, Fall starts when our phone starts ringing off the hook with orders coming in for
security screen doors. Everyone wants a piece of that cool Fall breeze!
We asked the families of our employees what their favorite local and not-so-local Fall pastimes are, and compiled this handy list.
Drop us a line and share yours!
1)
Haunted Houses - for young and old alike, haunted houses have been a favorite for years. The moment October approaches homeowners begin decorating their homes and garages with spooky decor and pumpkins. There are also some amazing
commercial haunted houses all over the country and lots locally too.
Check it out! Remember to be safe this Halloween (for Halloween Safety Tips, click on

2)
Renting a cabin - there is nothing like a fireplace and hot cocoa to help you enjoy those cool mountain evenings in the northern part of our great state. At this time of year, cabins are plentiful and readily available through popular vacation rental websites you can find with a quick internet search. While there, you can go for a hike, find apple orchards to go apple picking, collect colorful fall leaves or get lost in a corn maze. The opportunities for fun are endless!
3)
Oktoberfest - this season of fun originated in Munich, Germany which traditionally is a 16 day festival that has been celebrated since 1810! Millions of people gather in fairgrounds around Germany to commemorate a royal wedding that took place all those years ago. Many gallons of beer and good food are consumed during the festivals as well as carnival rides, booths and games that are fun for everyone. The USA has some
very famous OktoberFest celebrations including one
right here in Arizona which includes dancing, music and an unusual blend of Bavarian and Southwest cultures! Sounds like a lot of fun to us!

4)
Pumpkins - carve them, make pies out of them, fix drinks out of them and decorate with them. Fall is all about pumpkin everything and we intend to make the most of it! There are some
amazing pumpkin templates you can find online for carving practically anything you can imagine. Recipes abound from
savory favorites to
sweet sensations everyone will love. And even if you don't want to carve, bake or drink them, you can still enjoy how they look with
fun fall ideas presented here.
5)
Family first - Get ready for Halloween with the littlest members of the family - shopping for costumes, stocking up on candy and watching scary movies together. If the kids have flown the nest, stock up on hot chocolate and snuggle on the couch with your furry friends or a loved one. Take a walk in the park. Ride a bike with a friend and enjoy the Fall breeze in your hair and the cool crisp air in your lungs. Take in a fair or festival and see things you don't usually see - the
Maricopa Home and Garden Show has lots to do for the whole family and is a great day out!
6)
Go for a drive - take in the sights of parts of your state you don't usually go. Visit a
park, national monument or historical building. There are a lot of
ruins that you can visit very inexpensively all over the state. Roll down the windows and take in the sights as you go. Take a picnic and stop off somewhere you've never been before to eat.
There are so many great things to enjoy about Fall, we can't possibly list them all, but hopefully we've given you some ideas to get started!
Happy Halloween!!
