What 20 Years Has Taught Us

About First Impression

First Impression designs, manufactures, and installs over 6,000 products per year and that's something we could not do without you, our customers!

Since 1995, when the business ran out of a garage, until now, where we occupy over 50,000 square feet, our business has grown tenfold, and over the years we have learned a lot about what works and what doesn't. Here are a few of the lessons we learned.

1) Our customers are #1. If the customer is not happy, we don't thrive. While we are not perfect, and make mistakes like anyone, we strive to make it right with the customer. Our ironclad warranty, service department and design consultants all work together to ensure that the customer is happy whenever possible. More than 40% of our business comes from word of mouth which is a pretty impressive statistic and really proves that we keep our customers our top priority.

2) If you build quality products, price becomes a secondary factor. We have always worked to provide products that are ahead of others in our market. From removable, one piece screens, to glass inserts, to security for sliding doors, First Impression strives to be industry leading in everything we do, and while keeping costs down remains in our minds, we don't sacrifice quality for price, and we have learned that our customers not only respect that, they expect it.

3) Customers want to touch and feel the quality. We bring the showroom to you when we can by providing real samples of our iron, powder coating colors and finishes and locksets. Our showrooms provide actual working and functional doors, gates and screens so you can actually experience the First Impression difference. We know this is important and actually helps the sales process, because while a picture speaks a thousand words, experience speaks ten thousand or more!

4) Nobody wants the hard sell. Our Design Consultants are always available to answer your questions, but we are never pushy, and we never ever cold call. If you need time to think about it, call around, get quotes from others, we are happy for you to do so. This means potential customers feel comfortable visiting our showrooms more than once to really get an idea of what they are buying before signing on the dotted line.

5) Some products are popular and others not so much. We love iron and we have offered several products that were just not that popular over the years. At one time or another we have installed pool fences, fabricated patio furniture and even beds and hose reels. For whatever reason they just were not as popular as doors and gates, but we still keep trying different things and improving upon products, taking into account customer requests and following design trends from various places. It keeps life interesting!
