You may have seen or heard reports lately that the housing market is showing some real signs of recovery, and according to the National Association of Realtors' quarterly report, 2013 is showing marked promise for the year with median home prices reflecting the highest year over year increase since 2005. Nationally, existing median home prices are up 10% from the same period last year at $178,900.

By December 2012, 1.82 million existing homes were for sale, which is 21.6% below what it was in December 2011 when 2.32 million homes were on the market. This level of unsold homes is the lowest since January 2001 when there were 1.78 million existing homes for sale.
