ACCOUNTABLE DISCIPLESHIP COURSE AT MWD LAY SERVANT TRAINING
In today's climate of personalized faith and privatized discipleship, can we learn to live as members of the household of God, in a covenant relationship with Him and other believers? This is exactly what John Wesley and his brother Charles laid as the foundation of Methodism in their concept of Accountable Discipleship, and it's what we believe in as United Methodists.
Come learn about the roots of your faith in Methodism, about the Wesleyan focus on spiritual passion and spiritual accountability, and on the development of laity as critical leadership for the church. Using scripture, tradition, reason, and experience, we examine the concepts of prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying graces and how they form the basis of the rules for living in God's Household. Discover ways to apply this model through the use of covenant discipleship groups, helping people nurture their relationship to God, shape their personal discipleship, and grow closer to one another.
Accountable Discipleship: Living in God's Household is offered at the Maumee Watershed District's 2016 Spring Lay Servant Training, April 22-23, at Widewater Retreat Center. Register!
